Honda MSX 125 launched in Malaysia – RM11,128

After much anticipation after its Thailand launch earlier this year, the Honda MSX 125 has finally been launched on Malaysian shores, at a price of RM11,128. Also known as the Grom in some markets, the Honda MSX 125 is a mini-moto designed to appeal to the young, and young-at-heart, rider.

Carrying a 125 cc air-cooled, single-cylinder Euro 3 engine that delivers a claimed 9.6 hp at 7,000 rpm and 11 Nm of torque at 5,250 rpm, the MSX 125 is fed by Honda’s PGM-FI. Fuel is carried in a 5.7-litre tank, and a four-speed gearbox drives the rear wheel through a chain.

Rolling on 12-inch wheels, the MSX 125 gets a 31 mm upside-down fork in front, and a monoshock at the back, with hydraulic single-disc brake front and rear. LED lighting features on this mini-moto, with an LCD dashboard that shows the rider all the necessary information, including twin tripmeters, fuel gauge and clock.

All up weight for the MSX 125 is 102 kg, and for the 2016/2017 season, the bike gets a revised fuel cap and redesigned exhaust can. Two colour options are available for Malaysia – Hyper Yellow and Burning Red.

The Honda MSX 125 will be available immediately at selected Boon Siew Honda dealers, at a price of RM11,128.94, including GST. Competitors to the MSX 125 locally include the Kawasaki Z125 Pro at RM10,435 and the recently launched Benelli TnT135 at RM8,469. All prices include GST.

Like your Sarcasm CW. In case U do drive a NSX, The MSX will complement your NSX when U want to run errand like dashing to the nearest supermarket/shop for a bottle of Olive oil/ciggie/beers.
U don’t want to drive the NSX to a shopping mall/hypermarket where there is too many humps, Right !

  • now that all the players are here, time for a 3 way shootout between tnt135, z125 and msx125.
Mohan kindly do us a favour.
oh, don’t bother about telling us this bike can’t do highway well… I think most reader knows it.
please if possible help with the following:
    1. riding positions
    2. power and travel range between the 3
    3. which can fit the occasional pillion best.
    4. refinement, perceived quality, and ownership consideration (after service)
    5. lastly, your favorite probably, after market mod!

my heart lean against benelli for the look, price, kit count(it has LED signal, extra gear and gear indicator)
but I am so so worried about the after sales compare to the 2 established jepun bike.

Kawasaki is the most stupid of all. Selling the brand name and give you lowsy 100/90-12 tires! Look how stupid it is with rider on it?

I will stick with the Kawa or Honda. This Honda is the newer of the two but pricier. Hmm….
