VIDEO: Mercedes-Benz teases new ‘Vision’ show car

Last year, the stunning Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 concept made its debut during the Monterey Car Week, in conjunction with the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. For the 2017 edition of the event, the company is poised to unveil a new Vision car, and here’s a teaser of what’s to come.

Based on the caption attached to the video (Mercedes-Maybach 6 – Teaser), the show car will likely retain the same name as the 2016 concept, although the various glimpses shown to us reveal a radical change in terms of its styling.

In the video, we see the new Vision car’s generously-sized and curvaceous bonnet, as well as large multi-spoke wheels that certainly look more conventional compared to the 24-inch aero rims on the previous concept.

Similarly, the interior is a lot more toned down from the space age one found in the concept, although the cylindrical dials and two-spoke steering wheel are retained. New here are what appears to be air-con vents (or fancy switches) on the dashboard, and Chesterfield look on the leather seats have been done away with.

Daimler’s chief design officer Gorden Wagener has already taken to Instagram previously to announce Mercedes-Benz will have big surprise for Pebble Beach this year. Could this be a revised or convertible version of last year’s “hot and cool” concept? Or is it a preview for a new production car the company has planned? We’ll have to wait a few more days for the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance to find out.
