Alongside the launch of the locally-assembled Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 4Matic Coupé, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia also held a preview of the V167 Mercedes-Benz GLE at its Hungry for Adventure Festival today. The fourth generation of Stuttgart’s midrange premium SUV, previously called the M-Class, is set to arrive soon with an estimated price of RM633,888 for the GLE 450 4Matic.
Riding on the new Modular High Architecture (MHA), the new GLE wears the company’s latest SUV design language, with trapezoidal headlights flanking an upright octagonal grille. At the rear, you’ll find wide body-coloured C-pillars – a holdout of the original M-Class – and slim tail lights complete with blocky light guides.
The GLE comes to Malaysia in AMG Line trim, featuring a more aggressive front bumper with the AMG “A-wing” design, a studded “diamond” grille and a rear diffuser with integrated twin tailpipes. Also fitted are Multibeam LED headlights and a Night Package with gloss black highlights, while 22-inch five twin-spoke alloy wheels fill the squared-off wheel arches.
The interior is a bit of a departure from Mercedes’ sedan range, with a sweeping vent-like surround for the freestanding flatscreen panel, plus a rectangular design for the actual air vents. There’s also a tall centre console with leather-wrapped grab handles. For the first time, the GLE is being offered here in both five-seater and seven-seater variants.
As standard, the GLE comes with twin 12.3-inch displays, linked to the latest Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) infotainment system – the same one you’ll find on the new A-Class. The Linguatronic voice control, operated by saying “Hey Mercedes”, can be used to control various functions of the car, such as the climate control and the 64-colour ambient lighting.
Other bits of kit include brushed aluminium dashboard trim, a panoramic sunroof, acoustic glass windscreen and side windows and Airmatic air suspension with the new 48-volt E-Active Body Control system. The latter controls the spring and damper of each corner individually, allowing it to perform such tricks as rocking the car free if it gets stuck off-road.
Power comes from a new M256 3.0 litre turbocharged straight-six – the same one you’ll find in the CLS 450 – that produces 367 hp at 5,500 to 6,100 rpm and 500 Nm of torque from 1,600 to 4,500 rpm. It’s paired to a 48-volt mild hybrid system that provides a 22 hp/250 Nm boost under hard acceleration, along with a nine-speed 9G-Tronic automatic transmission and 4Matic all-wheel drive.
The GLE 450 4Matic will be on display together with the GLC 300 4Matic Coupé and various other Mercedes-Benz SUVs at the Hungry for Adventure Festival, which runs from now until March 24 at Sentul Depot, Sentul West.
Looking to sell your car? Sell it with Carro.
If I go in and say “Hey Proton”, I wonder if it will respond.
You cannot compare a China made car with Mercedes. This is like comparing a Damansara Heights bungalow to rumah setinggan.
Proton X70 is no where is world rankings.
Proton has not improved the past 30 years. It is because Proton and its fanboys think their Proton is at PAR with Mercedes.
Last time, someone said Proton was the BMW of Asia.
The whole world laughed at us
So BMW got ” hey BMW operation or not? ” If not it is a shame for luxury car
Nobody is comparing Proton with Mercedes. Don’t be delusional.
tail lamp from golf…shame three star
Malaysia heading to High income nation status. Record breaking Mercedes-Benz GLE sales expected
Last GLE failed miserably. Selling for RM550k, within 1 year, the GLE400 went down to RM300k
GLE cannot sell in Malaysia at all. Especially when your X5 is half the price.
This design not as eyecatching as the current outgoing one, the front too much similarities with Kia Sportage & Sorento.
I’d top up to get the unique Audi Q8.
save the money and get the x70 which is higher spec than the tin kosong audi.
This is the BMW X5 rival and look at its price. It furthers cements the fact MBM is going up in price beginning with the A Class.
U just wait for coming 3 series pricing, will be record as well
The interior looks very dull .. Koreans have better dash than this… disappointed!
Really tak masuk akal. Global price about USD50k (Rm200k)
Come to Malaysia become RM650k. How from RM200k can lompat to RM650k??
Someone please explain to me?
This high car prices started 20 years ago. It did not start recently.
This is because most car companies in Malaysia is Government or GLC owned. Government has no reason to ask car companies to lower their prices.
Seeing same post everytime. Teruk lah bang, this is for the rich lah. Work harder and pleAse lah dont use different name for same story

Unlike GLC, the GLE design a bit disappointed. The interior look so akkward.
those aircon vents… seriously?
Hardly see any previous generation GLE on the road when the price was cheaper.
The new GLE will be even more RARE product on the road compare to the previous unsellable GLE..
Not worth owning any GLE..looks Ugly too.
Better get XC90 and X5. Q8 reliability remains to be seen in the immediate term.
dead on arrival.
