Honda Civic facelift previewed in Malaysia – now with Honda Sensing, boot spoiler and 18-inch alloy wheels

Honda Civic facelift previewed in Malaysia – now with Honda Sensing, boot spoiler and 18-inch alloy wheels

Ahead of its market introduction, Honda Malaysia offered the first look at the Honda Civic facelift at its “Road to 900k Grand Finale” event at Bukit Jalil over the weekend. The public viewing was limited to showcasing the refreshed tenth-generation FC’s exterior, as the display car at the event was cordoned off and had its windows blacked-out.

As shown by the display example, exterior styling revisions for the facelift are minor – the Civic’s front end now features a piano black “wing” on the grille in place of the chrome seen previously, and the lower section of the front bumper now integrates the black trim into a single piece running across the width of the unit. At the back, there’s a new rear bumper garnish piece, and a boot spoiler also makes its way on.

A new 18-inch alloy wheel also goes on, but that’s only for the 1.5 TC-P variant, which sits on top of a three model range, the other two being the mid-spec 1.5 TC and base 1.8 S. No change in output with the two powertrains that are on offer – the L15B7 1.5 litre VTEC Turbo four-cylinder engine continues on with 173 PS and 220 Nm of torque, while the normally-aspirated 1.8 litre SOHC four-pot soldiers on with 141 PS and 174 Nm.

Both engine options continue to be paired with an Earth Dreams continuously variable transmission (CVT), which directs drive to the front wheels. The big news is the inclusion of Honda Sensing, and the Civic becomes the third locally-assembled (CKD) Honda model to come with the automaker’s suite of safety and driver assistance systems after the CR-V and Accord.

Components available in the system are Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Low Speed Follow (LSF), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Lane Keep Assist System (LKAS), Road Departure Mitigation (RDM) and Lane Departure Warning (LDW).

There’s also an Auto High-Beam (AHB) feature and a LaneWatch camera side-camera system, and other safety equipment includes six airbags, front parking sensors, Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), ABS, EBD, brake assist, Emergency Stop Signal (ESS), Hill Start Assist (HSA) and a reverse camera.

New equipment being introduced with the facelift include front parking sensors, automatic wipers and 60:40 split-folding rear seats (previously, a fixed bench). The 1.5 TC will now come equipped with LED headlamps and fog lamps (previously, halogen units) as well as LaneWatch. As for the 1.5 TC-P, aside from Sensing and the 18-inch alloys, it’ll be the only variant to feature the black grille and boot spoiler as standard.

Exterior Design is outdated compared to New Generation Mazda3 and Toyota Corrolla.

Dashboard screen also shared the same size among japanese C-segment. All also 7 inch LCD. nothing bad as retrofit is a better choice, anytime. Smart Gadgets improve every year – but car loans is tied to 9 years.

The new Civic FL design might look like a downgrade to the pre-FL one but the Honda Civic is still a game changing sedan. When will Proton upgrade their game over Prevé to compete with the game changing Corolla, Civic and Mazda 3?

I hear goverment may implement standardized road tax based on engine output.

they are in discussing now. For the time being, this is the legit info:
          https://paultan.org/2019/03/11/local-ev-road-tax-to-finally-switch-to-kw-based-rate/

          Renault Zoe 65 kW (87 hp)= RM56
          Nissan Leaf 110kw (147 hp) = RM374

Next, Tiny engine Turbo will get taxed follow hp too.

Dislike – to show antisupport to this new system.
          Like – to show support.
This Tiny 1.5turbo 170hp, calculate yourself for road tax required. it’s a huge hike from RM90.

It’s up to netizen. let’s see if government will respect democracy.

a lot of people (especially those young graduates from what i heard) love to buy cars like the Civic even if they can barely afford it.

they’ll take a 9 year loan and eat maggi everyday just to afford the car’s maintenance and road tax. don’t know how true this is, but if it is, it’s absurd.

People will still buy New Corolla because of price is cheaper than Mazda 3 but expensive than Civic because of CBU that cost RM128K to RM136K, got Toyota Safety Sense, got wireless charging, real blind sunshade and more features and even aftersales service is good. Second of all, Mazda 3, Mazda 3 is most expensive C-segment than Corolla and Civic which cost RM140K to RM160K because of CBU plus aftersales service is not good but at least, Mazda 3 has lots of features and safety wise and more reliable even though using SkyActiv-G Engine. But, for Honda Civic, even though aftersales service is not good but at least it is cheaper that cost RM110K est. because of locally assembled plus got Honda Sensing and turbocharged engine.

Engine just 1.5 T, switching to bigger rim will make pickup lag.. X70 1.8T will be ideal choice. Turbo should starts from 2.0T and above, requires higher cost to maintain turbo efficiency . It the driver determine speed, even with Myvi car, not turbo energy or engine..

Honda Malaysia, hopefully they fixed the engine oil consumption issue. My Civic 1.5T every month required to top up 1 to 1.5 litres of engine oil. This is ridiculous. For this price, if it’s a reliable car, it’d be good. But my car went in to replace transmission, and constantly non stop consuming engine oil, this is bad for your reputation.

This is not a city car hence the oil changing is more frequent if you do city driving more

What you can do is running it on non-jammed highway to prolong the period

Honda is a total joker la… probably too proud of themselves. Even the FL X-Trail gives a proper blind spot warning system and yet Honda gives their one-eye jack Lanewatch camera. Obviously a step to clear the old stocks when most have move on to blind spot warning sensor.
They really sucks big time, when a 80K Jazz does not even has auto-retractable side mirror as standard function.

when the FL X-Trail is giving a proper blind spot monitoring system, Honda still gives their one-eye jack Lanewatch Camera. really WTH. maybe wanna clear stocks on this Lanewatch camera.
one more thing, look at their 80K Jazz, not even has the auto-retractable side mirror function as standard across all model. even worse than a Myvi. I doubt the product designer is a person who knows about driving in Malaysia.
