Proton X50 – 3,513 units delivered in March, 5% up from February; total deliveries now at 11,654 units

With the announcement of its sales figures for March, total deliveries of the Proton X50 have now reached 11,654 units since it went on sale last year. Deliveries of the SUV amounted to 3,513 units last month, an improvement of 168 units – or 5% – over the 3,345 units managed in February.

The numbers managed by the X50 last month contributed to the automaker’s overall sales tally of 14,989 units (domestic and export) for March, and the model continued to outstrip the X70 in terms of sales, although the larger SUV had a good month – deliveries totalled 2,337 units in March, a 58.4% increase over February.

Combined, sales of both SUVs last month added up to 5,850 units, which the company says bests the internal record of 4,820 units that was set just last month.

The B-segment SUV was launched last October to strong response from car buyers, with over 30,000 bookings collected before the end of 2020. Available in four variants – Standard, Executive, Premium and Flagship – the X50 is priced from RM79,200 to RM103,300 on-the-road without insurance, but factors in the ongoing sales tax relief that is in place until June 30.

    LoL “domestically and export”.
So local sales figure should be less than 10K.
Meanwhile P2 sales figure are all domestic.

Iriz and exora bad sales less than 1K each a month should stop production only.

Proton must quickly resolve the A-pillar wind noise. Even Proton Saga doesn’t have this problem at speed 80km/h

  • Proton ranks first in the RM70k to RM140k category (M40 level).
Perodua ranks first in the below RM70k category (B40 level).

Malaysia should aim to go M40 and above, finally saying hasta la vista to staying B40.

There will always be a large proportion of any country’s population in the B40 segment. That is free market economics. The trick is to raise their income and standard of living but you can never eliminate millions in the lower income bracket. That is why it is important to have cars priced below RM50k that are equipped with better safety features. These customers deserve the same level of safety. This is also why banning ICE and going full EV is so difficult. So many supporters only then of the rich in big cities but what about the poor people in rural areas? EV is a non starter for them for at least a generation.

Ativa launched later, but appearances already seems to chase up the x50 ady. Im choosing the ativa over the x50, more practical to my daily city use.

Perodua already had 4,000 units built before they launched the Ativa. Give it 6 months and let’s see.

    • Many people who bought Ativa have never seen the X50. In fact, as long as they park the Ativa next to the X50, they will find that buying a durian at RM10 is cheaper than a rambutan at RM7.

    • I wonder whats the practical differences between ativa and x50.. I can understand if its between Aruz and X50 because of the seating capacity.. or maybe my understanding of “practical” is different?

  • the brand name PROTON disappoints many Malaysians like our family whom had owned PROTON’s since Saga/Iswara days. We had Iswara, Wira, Waja, and BLM and no more PROTON’s after that. They rank from Good, Not good, Terrible, to Very Terrible..

Sorry PROTON, too many chances given already. Your name is no longer in our dictionary and nor we will recommend our friends and families to buy one.

Please Produa 1.0 wont last long. Any study in the world show that. It only use for short distance shopping only not for commuting in heavy traffic jam in Malaysia. Please don’t cheat the poor to become poorer. Produa bring in lifestyle that only practical with the poor in Japan not the poor in Malaysia.
