Geely Jiaji facelift spotted in China – Proton’s Infinite Weave grille seen on MPV, along with revised interior

The Geely Jiaji (codenamed VF11) was launched in China back in March 2019 and will soon be given a facelift, according to a report by CarNewsChina. The three-row MPV, as reportedly previously, is one of a few Geely vehicles that Proton has secured the use of intellectual properties (IP) and the rights to manufacture for and is widely rumoured to be a replacement for the Exora.

Spyshots of the refreshed MPV sighted by the publication show a heavily revised front fascia, which now adopts Geely’s Vision Starburst design philosophy. The result is an X-shaped face that bears some likeness to Lexus’s spindle grille, while the “expanding cosmos” grille has been swapped out for a reshaped one bearing the “Infinite Weave” pattern. Designed by Proton, the grille is also seen on the X70, X50, Persona, Iriz and Saga.

Other exterior changes are found at the rear, where the two-piece taillights have been reshaped to feature a slight notch on the fenders. The clusters are also linked by what looks like a light bar, which is currently in vogue, with the Geely script now placed directly on the reprofiled tailgate. Further down, the reflectors have been rotated to be vertical and placed at the corners of the bumper, accompanied by a new chrome piece that mimics exhaust outlets.

Inside, the most notable revision is the centre console, which has been simplified and now has most controls placed in a single file and parallel to a covered storage space. This also creates room for a more substantial storage cubby beneath the centre air vents, and the centre armrest no longer opens in two parts.

The current Jiaji is available with a regular petrol powertrain that features a 1.8 litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine making 181 hp and 300 Nm of torque. There’s also a plug-in hybrid system comprising a 1.5 litre turbo three-pot and an electric motor for 255 hp and 385 Nm. It’s uncertain if these offerings will be retained or be replaced as part of the imminent facelift.

from utube, it seems that the luggage area is insufficient to hold luggage for 7 (or 5+2) people when all the seats are used.

tackle this issue & it’ll be a good seller for proton. make it at least on par with exora.

adding a roof top box spoils the Jiaji’s sleek appearance.

Pretty standard issue with any MPVs when all the seats are used up. I don’t see Jiaji to be any different or needs to be different.

I think Geely make some handsome car, and good features as well … Way better than any other Proton made car

but… if Proton didnt start producing own car, or at least fully transform the design (Like what is Renault Koleos to Nissan XTrail) then Proton is nothing more than a right hand Geely

Shouldnt they start producing self design car by now ? even the old Wira has a distinctive design as compared to the lancer it is base on …

at least buat la Saga baru… their best seller kan…

They might be in process of designing a car rn but I’m just guessing. Also, i really would like to see sport cars from proton like how Toyota did to their cars. It would attract more young people imo.

“Didn’t start producing car”? Out of all their current model offering, more than 50% of it are their own “self designed and produced” models.. not Geely’s. Are you trying to say “design and produce their own new car and not based/copy from Geely”?

Dr.Li ,kindly bring this as the Exora replacement, which is overdue.
The Exora is a sunset mpv with Jurassic tech.
Proton fanboys ,I believe are looking forward to something fresh from the oven.

Not anymore… What happened to current Exora does not work anymore.. for example the OCH issue that can burst anytime without warning…

Exora was a good car, but all good cars must have an end somehow so that better replacement cars emerged…

Who is “we”?? Are you a shareholder? Does the majority of shareholders feel they’ve sunk because of the infinite weave grill or they’re happy with how proton performing in the market? I’m confused.
