The 2022 Perodua Alza 1.5AV already supports wired Android Auto connectivity through its 9.0-inch touchscreen head unit, but the MPV is set to offer Apple CarPlay support as well. This was confirmed by Perodua president and CEO Datuk Seri Zainal Abidin Ahmad at a press conference during the ongoing Alza media drive.
He revealed that the Apple CarPlay is expected to go on the Alza AV by the end of the year, and that when that happens, the update will also be made available to customers who have already taken delivery of particular variant of the new MPV. Over 4,000 units of the Alza have been delivered so far since its official debut last month.
He said that Perodua is currently completing the process regarding the MFi certification for CarPlay, and that all documents pertaining to this have been submitted, with the automaker now waiting for approval.
The certification involves three stages of development, with various quality and performance tests in each to ensure that the infotainment unit functions as intended when CarPlay is running. According to literature regarding the certification process, Apple estimates that the MFi Program certification will take at least four months before the certification is complete.
As such, iPhone users who have already received their vehicle will have to be patient for a while more. Incidentally, the upcoming Toyota Veloz also features a 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, but it’s different from the Alza’s – the head unit supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, the latter of which is wired on the Alza.

Looking to sell your car? Sell it with Carro.
The center control panel is so pathetic. The aircond control is so cramp into one little area while there are plenty of space surrounding it. Why make the control button so small and not making use of all the space? Make life easier for drivers.
Same goes to the push start button area. Looks so much like college student’s project. Janganlah asyik nak share parts save cost sampai design macam ni.
Lame
Good news for those who want to topup 20k for veloz just for Apple Car Play..hahahahahahhaa
Yeah you’d be an idiot if you top up RM20k just for apple car play.
You’d also be an idiot to think that RM20k only gets you apple car play lol
So what else you’d get for a 20k premium?
There is still a big difference in Veloz offering. It is a wireless Apple car play connection. Alza needs an ugly cable sticking out from the head unit, and guess what, it doesn’t have a convenient place to put your phone.
For Veloz, u can place the phone on the wireless charger while connected to the head unit.
Not a 20k feature on its own, but is substantial value.
What is MFi? I think you should state its full phrase prior to using abbreviation.
MFI : Made for Iphone (apple).
All accessories that works with Apple product but not from Apple need to get the MFI cert. This MFI by Apple ensures those product does not harm Apple products.
Sub RM100k car came with wireless Apple Car Play (Toyota Veloz). But the RM140k Honda HRV still need to plug in using a cable. Both launched at the same time. One priced crazily, and the other not.
Alza/Veloz have good specs
HRV have poor specs
Alza/Veloz have BSM
HRV have no BSM
Alza users that afford to own Apple phone is under what income group? Do they need to be subsodized for petrol? Do not always kacau T20 only while they have so many commitmemt, that’s why work very hard to earn more money but bring exploited by “smart” finance minister!
Have u heard 2nd hand item? Prelove iphone? Or refurbished iPhone? Or even monthly payment plan from aeon, sen heng, courst mammoth???
If can afford brand new RM60K+ car, for sure can afford iPhone.
Not to mention iPhone is supported for 6 years, for all you know maybe they got iPhone way back then before economic downturn. Either that or maybe they saved up for one, or use monthly payments, or they bought
the cheapest iPhone on deal.
Nobody like cheaper low spec iPhone.
You know, you’re such an old school to think Apple is premium. Owning an Apple does not make people look or feel rich or even financially capable. M40 or even B40 can also afford Apple. Its a necessity, just like any other mobile devices. People who buy Apple shouldn’t buy Alza 60k or use subsidies, what kind of logic is that?
On the other hand you have Proton’s substandard Acotech with no CarPlay functionality in a system and car sold as more “Sophisticated” than this Alza
Yes and it is a better system, so what’s it gotta do here? Jealous much?
Dangling wired Carplay? Ewww!
