The Nissan IMx is an all-electric crossover concept vehicle offering fully autonomous operation and a driving range of more than 600 kilometers. 为了在自动驾驶技术领域占有先机，Nissan计划在2022年推出搭载全自动驾驶技术的汽车。根据盖世汽车资讯网报道，Nissan高级副总裁Yutaka Sanada透露，该公司正计划逐步强化旗下自驾车辆的系统。
Nissan的第一步是让更多车辆完成单车道自动驾驶，往后的目标则是在2020年之前实现在市区道路上自动驾驶，包括十字路口等。
眼下，Nissan将与Google子公司Waymo、Tesla，以及GM集团等汽车公司在全自动驾驶汽车的研发上形成激烈的竞争。而根据彭博新能源财经分析，Waymo在众多研发自驾的公司当中，最具优势，原因是该公司研发的自动驾驶里程表现更优秀。
看回Nissan方面，目前旗下的Serena minivan，以及Leaf等新款电动汽车在日本越来越受欢迎，原因是它们皆具备了半自动驾驶功能。
无论如何，Nissan也表示，将在明年3月于日本公共道路上测试自动驾驶共享汽车，并计划在未来推出“机器人出租车”。该公司将采用Leaf电动汽车进行测试，测试车将搭载传感器和摄像镜头，以及由DeNA Co.研发的自动驾驶软件。
