Car Buyer's Guide

Overview

The Kia Carnival is a D-segment diesel MPV for large families, hotel transfers and anyone who needs up to 11 seats without moving into a van. The KA4 facelift generation launches in 2026 with front-wheel drive, a 2.2-litre diesel and automatic transmission, priced from RM188,888.

Carnival in 2026 — what's new

For 2026, the Carnival range consists of 11-, eight- and seven-seat versions of the facelifted KA4. All use the 2,151 cc diesel producing 197 hp, driving the front wheels through an automatic gearbox. The eight-seater adds a 2-3-3 layout, ADAS and 12 Bose speakers. Kia quotes up to 900 km WLTP for the diesel, while B7 diesel is highly recommended; B10 does not void the warranty. An eight-year free-service and seven-year warranty package runs until August 31, 2026.

Which variant to buy

Most family buyers should take the RM238,888 eight-seater. Its 2-3-3 seating is the most flexible layout here, and it gets ADAS plus 12 Bose speakers. The RM188,888 11-seater is the practical choice for operators or genuinely large households that need maximum passenger capacity. Pay RM10,000 more for the seven-seater only if seven individual places suit your regular use better than the eight-seater’s extra capacity; the mechanical package remains the same 197 hp 2.2-litre diesel, FWD and automatic.

Verdict

The Carnival approaches family transport honestly: it is a big MPV built to carry people, and the 11-seat option gives it a clear purpose. The diesel’s quoted 900 km WLTP range should suit long-distance work, while the eight-seater brings useful safety assistance and a 2-3-3 cabin. It starts above the Toyota Innova Zenix and Hyundai Staria, so the cheaper 11-seater needs to be judged on its seating requirement rather than badge appeal.
