Car Buyer's Guide

Overview

The Toyota Innova Zenix is a D-segment, three-row MPV with SUV looks, front-wheel drive and a choice of petrol or hybrid power. It suits families who need seven or eight seats in something less van-like than a boxy MPV. In Malaysia, the range starts at RM165,000 for the 2.0 V.

Innova Zenix in 2026 — what's new

For 2026, the Innova Zenix carries on unchanged from the Malaysian launch range: 2.0 V petrol and 2.0 HEV hybrid. It remains the newer Innova line, but it does not replace the cheaper Innova MPV, which sits below it. The Zenix stays a three-row model with SUV-influenced styling, offered with either eight seats or seven seats depending on variant.

Which variant to buy

Most buyers should start with the 2.0 V at RM165,000. It has the higher stated output, a CVT automatic and eight seats, so it is the simpler family choice if carrying people matters most. The 2.0 HEV costs RM202,000; the RM37,000 gap buys the hybrid drivetrain, eCVT and a seven-seat cabin. Pay more only if you specifically want the hybrid.

Verdict

At RM165,000 to RM202,000, the Innova Zenix starts below the Hyundai Staria and Kia Carnival, but the hybrid costs more than both rivals’ entry prices. It is also far above the cheaper Innova MPV that remains on sale. The case for the Zenix is its newer, SUV-look three-row package with petrol or hybrid power. The catch is clear: the HEV asks a big premium.
