The Toyota Innova Zenix that was launched tonight is not a replacement for the second-generation Innova in Malaysia. UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) says that the old MPV, referred to internally as the Innova CG, will continue to be sold alongside the Zenix.
“For those who require the load-carrying capabilities and more functional attributes, UMW Toyota Motor will continue to offer the Innova 2.0X and 2.0G currently assembled in Malaysia,” the company said.
The Innova CG is priced from RM133,880 (G) to RM141,880 (X), while the new Zenix starts from RM165,000 for the 2.0 V. That’s a significant price gap of over RM23,000 between the cheapest Zenix and the most expensive Innova CG. The new Zenix 2.0 HEV hybrid even crosses the RM200k mark. The Zenix is a CBU import from Indonesia while the CG is CKD locally assembled.
The ‘old Innova’ is the second-generation facelift model that was launched here in February 2021. This generation of the Innova first surfaced in Indonesia back in end-2015. It rides on the IMV ladder frame chassis and is rear-wheel drive, as it has been since the original Innova debut in 2004.
The Zenix switches to the TNGA platform, monocoque construction and front-wheel drive. It also uses the latest Dynamic Force engine and a CVT. Full details, specs and galleries of the Innova Zenix here.

Looking to sell your car? Sell it with Carro.

thanks to mahathir badawi najib muhyidin sabri anwar. 40 years of umno-derived leaders.
Innova, rush, veloz, vios, ASEAN yaris, creta all made for 3rd worlders.
it’s crazy to be able to continue to sell this spacious 2.0L 6AT 7/8seater MPV.
360cam, BSM, 7 airbags are standard.
RM134k still a great deal compared to X70 for same price, both missing AEB, ACC.
What? Like Axia 2014 model? Emulating Exora’s 14 years churning and still going on?
It’s obvious that they know they can still sell the old model when P1 have decided to sell the old design and higher maintenance X90 at such profitable pricing.
According to Wiki, Zenix is 3rd generation Innova. Even the name is still the same. So what are they trying to pull?
TNGA suppose to reduce by 20% for production cost but somehow prices increase by 20% on the base model and 30% on the premium model.
Toyota should just replace the model instead of asking Malaysian to help them clear old stock.
