Overview
The Toyota Camry XV80 is Toyota’s D-segment sedan for buyers who still want a proper four-door rather than an SUV. Launched in Malaysia for this generation in 2024, it seats five and comes with 2.5-litre petrol or petrol-hybrid power. Prices start from RM221,800.
Camry in 2026 — what's new
For Malaysia, the XV80 Camry carries on into 2026 unchanged. The current range is the 2.5V petrol and 2.5 HEV petrol hybrid, with the 2.5V added after the hybrid to lower the entry price by RM27,000. Overseas activity continues, including a China-market Glorious Edition and a plan to sell US-produced Camry units in Japan from 2026, but neither changes the Malaysian line-up.

Which variant to buy
Most buyers should start with the 2.5V at RM221,800. It gets the same 2,487 cc capacity and five-seat layout as the hybrid, but uses a petrol engine with a conventional automatic and is RM27,000 cheaper. Pay RM248,800 for the 2.5 HEV if you specifically want the petrol-hybrid drivetrain and eCVT. On paper, the decision is mainly powertrain and price; check the equipment list before assuming the gap buys extra kit.

Verdict
The Camry is now a rarer kind of family/business car: a D-segment sedan in a market that has shifted hard towards SUVs. That does not make it cheap. The 2.5V already costs RM41,441 more than the Mazda 6 Sedan’s RM180,359 starting price, while the hybrid pushes the gap further. The draw is the big-sedan format, the choice of petrol or hybrid power and Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 on the hybrid launch model.
