Overview
The Mitsubishi Xpander is a B-segment seven-seat MPV aimed at families that need three rows without moving into a larger vehicle. In Malaysia, the NC2W facelift starts from RM99,980 and uses a 1.5 litre petrol engine with 104 hp and a conventional automatic gearbox.
Xpander in 2026 — what's new
In Malaysia, the NC2W Xpander carries on into 2026 unchanged as the 2024-launched facelift, with Base and Plus variants. The bigger 2026 activity is regional: Thailand gets an Xpander Hybrid facelift rated at 116 PS/255 Nm at about RM114k, while the facelifted Xpander and Xpander Cross gain items such as six airbags, an 8-inch meter display and a 10-inch touchscreen. Those updates are not the Malaysian Base and Plus range.

Which variant to buy
For most buyers, start with the Xpander Base at RM99,980. It has the same core mechanical package as the Plus: a 1,499 cc petrol engine, 104 hp, conventional automatic gearbox and seven seats. The Xpander Plus costs RM109,980, so the RM10,000 gap does not buy more power, a different transmission or extra seating. On paper, you are paying for trim, not mechanicals — check the equipment list before paying more.

Verdict
The Xpander’s appeal is simple: seven seats, a 1.5 litre petrol automatic drivetrain and a familiar small-MPV layout. It also has a strong local footprint, with more than 50,000 units sold in Malaysia. The catch is price. Its RM99,980 starting point sits above the B-segment MPV rival range of RM62,500 to RM95,000, with the Perodua Alza from RM62,500 and Toyota Veloz from RM95,000.
