Overview
The Mitsubishi Xpander is a B-segment, seven-seat petrol MPV for families needing three rows in a compact footprint. This NC2W generation launched in 2024 and uses a 1.5-litre, 104 hp front-wheel-drive automatic powertrain. Prices start from RM99,980, placing it above the entry prices of the Perodua Alza and Toyota Veloz.
Xpander in 2026 — what's new
Malaysia carries the 2024 NC2W Xpander into 2026 in Base and Plus forms, both with a 1,499 cc petrol engine, 104 hp, front-wheel drive, automatic transmission and seven seats. Overseas, the 2026 Xpander facelift shown in Indonesia gains an eight-inch meter display and 10-inch touchscreen, while the Thai Xpander Hybrid facelift adds ADAS, six airbags and an electric motor rated at 116 PS and 255 Nm. Those updates are not part of the Malaysian Base and Plus specifications.

Which variant to buy
Most buyers should start with the RM99,980 Base. It has the same 1,499 cc 104 hp petrol engine, front-wheel drive, automatic gearbox and seven-seat layout as the Plus, so the RM10,000 gap does not buy extra power or a different drivetrain. The RM109,980 Plus is the one to consider only after checking its equipment list and finding trim or convenience items that matter to you. On the published mechanical specifications, you are paying for trim rather than a different driving package.

Mitsubishi Xpander buyer's guides & reviews
Verdict
The Xpander gives buyers a seven-seat B-segment MPV with a straightforward 1.5-litre petrol automatic set-up and a facelifted 2024 generation. Its pricing needs careful thought: the Base costs RM4,980 more than the Toyota Veloz entry price and RM37,480 more than the Perodua Alza entry price. The Plus widens that gap further. Choose it for the Mitsubishi’s particular package, not because it is the cheapest route into this class.
