2010 Kia Sorento: Official Photos

Official photos of the upcoming 2010 Kia Sorento have been leaked onto the Internet. The new Sorento or also code named as the XM will make its official debut at the Seoul Auto Show next month which is where more details of the engine options will also be revealed. Thus far, apart from these official photos, we can just speculate.

The new Sorento would be the first Hyundai-Kia vehicle to feature the new efficient diesel from the R-diesel engine family. With a 2.2 litre displacement, this EURO5-compliant engine is expected to put out 200HP while returning 14.1 kilometers per litre of fuel. Other petrol powered options may include a 2.4 litre 4-cylinder and a 3.8 litre V6. There would also be a 2.7 litre LPI engine for the Korean market. Transmission wise, for now we know that there would be a 6-speed automatic. Another big change is the fact that it will be based on a unibody design instead of the current Sorento’s body-on-frame truck-like construction.

Just like any other new vehicle which was released by Kia recently, the 2010 Kia Sorento is rather good looking, with its front grille carried over from the Kia Cerato Forte, another handsome car. According to Kia-world.net, the new Sorento has also grown in size with its overall measurement figured at 4.685 mm in length, 1.885 mm in width and 1.710 mm in height. This means it is slightly longer by 95 mm and wider by 35 mm. However its height and 2,700 mm wheelbase is lower and shorter, by 15 mm and 5 mm respectively.

This new XM Sorento is one of the cars expected to hit Malaysian roads when introduced by the Naza Group through Naza Kia Sdn Bhd this year or next. Continue reading to view higher-res images of the 2010 Kia Sorento.

Decent design and turbdiesel is good if Proton can outsourced from Kia. So, both parties can benefit. Unless Proton looking from Toyota D4D?

rebadged? no problem! just do what 99.9% of all 206 owners do. buy the pug badges and fix them on before taking the car. that way, they drive a new peugeot out the showroom!! :)

nobody else see the resemblance to the santa-fe? although slightly "modernised"

realise kia and hyundais tend to have the same rough shape on their suv. look at the tucson and sportage.

Guys, I disagree with your opinions stating that the new Kia Sorento looks like this car or that car.

Being a car design that is soothing to the eyes of consumers, one cannot expect it to look too radically departed from the general "car" looks, unless you love the design of Multipla or Aztek.

My point is that Kia Sorento looks good overall and I do not see any hints of copy and paste jobs, unlike a lot of Chinese automakers.

Anyway, there is hardly any design nowadays which are truly original but generally good design are somewhat revolutionally innovative.

And I honestly do see the innovative design in Kia's new line up of cars.

As some of you might have known Peter Schreyer, the man behind the original Audi TT and Bauhaus-inspired 1998 Audi A6 is the current Design Director for Kia Motors. He is obviously not a copycat but in fact a catalyst in design of motor industry.

His new design language for Kia revolves around the new signature "tiger" grille and clean sleek lines.

I certainly agree that Kia's previous designs are dull, boring and had very unproportionate lines and bulges that sore the eyes, but the new design is a huge departure from them.

The design for the new Kia Forte or Sorento might not look too daring or bold unlike his previous design, but I believe it suits the philosophy and the progress of Kia Motors.

One thing for sure, the looks are not pretentious.

I would say KIA is actually improving and competing more closely with the European counterparts. This new Sorento R is indeed a car that would target the most as executives and surely it has the look and more enhanced features then the previous Kia/Naza Sorento. This new Sorento R eventually looks more elegant and stylish. Cant wait of when is this new Sorento going to be launced in Malaysia.
