Mitsubishi Mirage to begin selling in Thailand end-March

Mitsubishi’s Mirage compact is set to begin selling in Thailand starting from March 28, making the Kingdom the first country to market the global offering. After Thailand, the Mirage will be exported to ASEAN countries, then gradually make its way to Japan, Europe and other markets around the world.

The Mirage – which made its debut at the Tokyo Motor Show last year – will be made at a brand-new third factory at Mitsubishi Motors Thailand’s Laem Chabang Plant, which is the largest MMC plant outside of Japan.

Mitsubishi Mirage to begin selling in Thailand end-March

The Thai-market Mirage will be equipped with a 1.2 litre MIVEC engine, and will offer a fuel efficiency of 22 km per litre, among the best in its class, and above the Thai government’s requirements for an eco-car certification.

The five-door hatchback will be priced between THB 380,000 (RM38,000) to 551,000 (RM55,100), depending on trim level, and plans are to sell 2,500 units per month in Thailand.

Another MYVI me too design. Will be tough to fight in this category with almost every car brand having a model in this segment.

This car is to compete Honda brio and Nissan march, which is also from Thailand. However, since Honda brio and Nissan march is not coming here, I doubt Mitsubishi mirage will come here. U knows. Government wants us poor to middle income people drive national car forever. We have no choice and freedom.

    • The lowest range is probably a Sutera/Viva-class vehicle. Both Malaysia and Thailand have been selling new vehicles of that class for many years at around 300k THB/30k MYR. And yes, most of them can travel about 800 km on 40 liter of fuel. So, it does not seem to be revolutionary.

There is a huge difference between Malaysia market and Thailand market. In Thailand market, it very depends on the economy and gasoline price. In the past decade, it is because of the taksinmonic, which is very benefit to the rural economy and subsidized diesel; pick up truck is the best selling. In this new decade, the eco-car incentive and first time car buyer’s scheme is introduced and gasoline price is much higher about bt55.39 (Ron 95). Therefore, there is no doubt; more and more city car or hybrid car will produce in Thailand.

(AP-Kroni) + (Tax + hidden tax) + (Excise/s) + (Cabotage Policy + Shipping & Handling + Shipping Insurance) + (Bank Interest Rate + Bank Negara Interest Rate) + (Road Tax + Annual Insurance) = Malaysian Car Price.

        Calculate it urself.

        Given equation, (AP-Kroni) + (Tax + hidden tax) + (Excise/s) + (Cabotage Policy + Shipping & Handling + Shipping Insurance) + (Bank Interest Rate + Bank Negara Interest Rate) + (Road Tax + Annual Insurance) + RM50,000.00 = RM105,000.00.

Find the value of (AP-Kroni) + (Tax + hidden tax) + (Excise/s) + (Cabotage Policy + Shipping & Handling + Shipping Insurance) + (Bank Interest Rate + Bank Negara Interest Rate) + (Road Tax + Annual Insurance)?

        http://www.maa.org.my/info_duty.htm

any car from Thailand will no be charge import tax but there will 75% Excise
Duties 10% sales Tax (proton also pay the same duty & tax)

if the price is RM 38k – 55k there estimated cost is around 20k-35k and after 85% charge by GOV cost for mitsu malaysia is 37k – 64k.

That why i estimate selling price is around swift price but i believe the most basic version will be cheaper.
Estimate selling price is 58k-80k depend on what spec mitsu try to offer at MY market.

The quoted figure for a Prius C in Japan is 30km/L, our 24 km/l for the prius c is an optimised figure for our conditions. Do you think a 1.2L with no direct injection and advance cam shaft timing can do 22km/l in our weather condition? I would be surprised if it does better than 16km/l
