It’s one E-class facelift debut after another – hot on the heels of the E-Class sedan, touring, coupe and cabriolet models that have just been unveiled in the past few weeks is the new facelifted Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG, which comes with both appearance and technical updates.
The regular E63 AMG makes 557 horsepower and 720Nm of torque, and can be had either in rear wheel drive or AMG 4MATIC. AMG 4MATIC helps reduce 0-100km/h acceleration time from 4.2 seconds down to 3.7 seconds for the sedan model. NEDC combined fuel consumption is 9.7l/100km for the rear wheel drive car and 10.3l/100km for the 4MATIC sedan, or 10.5l/100km for the 4MATIC Estate.
There’s something new in this edition of the AMG E-Class – a more powerful ‘S-Model’ version that has an AMG 5.5 litre twin-turbo V8 doing 585 horsepower and 800Nm of torque from 1,750-5,000rpm. To help get all that power down to the wheels, it has AMG 4MATIC as standard. It also adds a differential lock on the rear axle for better traction. 0 to 100km/h takes 3.6 seconds for the sedan and 3.7 seconds for the Estate. NEDC combined fuel consumption is 10.3l/100km for the sedan and 10.5l/100km for the Estate.
AMG’s 4MATIC distributes engine torque at a ratio of 33 to 67, front to rear. Optimum traction is guaranteed by a multi-disk clutch with a locking effect of 50 Newton metres which exploits the frictional connection potential of all four wheels to the full on snow and ice in particular. The compact and weight-optimised design results in a comparatively low level of additional weight for the all-wheel-drive system of only 70 kilograms.
Power goes to the wheels via an AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed automatic transmission. It’s essentially an automatic transmission that has had its torque converter replaced with a multi-pack clutch. Four modes are available – “C” (Controlled Efficiency), “S” (Sport), “S+” (Sport plus) and “M” (Manual).
In C mode, the ECO start/stop function is active and switches off the eight-cylinder engine when the vehicle is at a standstill. For smoothness, second gear is generally used as the starting gear in this mode. S, S+ and M are naturally spoertier, and ECO start/stop is disabled. An automatic double-declutching function for downshifting and the RACE START function are also included as standard.
All models get AMG RIDE CONTROL, an electronically controlled damper system. The front axle employs a steel-spring suspension system, while the rear axle is fitted with a fully load-bearing air suspension system. Pressing the button marked with a shock absorber in the AMG DRIVE UNIT will switch the electronics from “Comfort” to “Sport” or “Sport plus”. Rear track is 48mm wider than non-AMG E-Class models.
The E 63 AMG is fitted as standard with 10-spoke AMG light-alloy wheels painted in titanium grey and featuring a high-sheen finish. Tyres in size 255/40 R 18 are fitted to 9.0 x 18 wheels at the front, while the 9.5 x 18 rear wheels have 285/35 R 18 tyres. The all-wheel-drive and S-Model come with tyres in size 255/35 R 19 (front) and 285/30 R 19 (rear) on AMG light-alloy wheels in size 9.0 x 19 and 9.5 x 19. Only the high-performance S-Model features 10-spoke light-alloy wheels painted in matt titanium grey with a high-sheen rim flange.
The standard brakes are an AMG high-performance braking system consisting of ventilated and perforated brake disks in ample 360 millimetre format on both the front and rear axles. Callipers in a silver painted finish with white AMG lettering and incorporating six pistons (front) and four pistons (rear) provide for spontaneous, fading-resistant deceleration and the shortest stopping distances. Callipers in a red painted finish distinguish the S-Model.
Optional only on the S-Model is an AMG ceramic high-performance composite braking system. The brake discs are increased to 402mm and the calipers have am “AMG Carbon Ceramic” logo. The ceramic system is around 40 percent lighter, providing for reduced unsprung masses and enhanced driving dynamics.
The new E 63 AMG with rear-wheel drive will be launched in April 2013, with the all-wheel-drive E 63 AMG and the E 63 AMG S-Model following in June 2013.

So,Benz is for old people?? Think again, kids.
I know Toyota is for old people.
i dont think caldina, altezza, supra, the 86 and some others are for the elders…
An uncle in my housing area is driving a modded 90s Supra. Haha. But badass-looking uncle with a lot of tattoos la.
not amg versions
Its like ranggi white hair old guys wearing
Yankee hat, university jacket with capital U and blue jeans. I mean it looks cool in such justification. Overall it looks better than prefacelift esp front nose n bumper
well in malaysia yes. you expect a young fler to buy this?
erm.. even in overseas like Europe. not every young guy driving this car unless u are rich. when i was in europe for 15 days, all i’ve seen is just normal low spec E-class with CDI badge. same goes to BMW and Audi. Most of it are being specced with halogen light rather than Xenon like ours.sometimes i wonder i’ve seen more nice car in Malaysia in just one or 2 days compared to 15 days in Europe.
Benz were never for old people.
Is just that BMW and Audi has a more youthful touch to it. Benz has elegance.
Crazy wagon, can drag race with audi rs6 wagon, heck, it can drag with even nissan gtr.
early model GTR…..later models belongs to the elusive under-3 second clubs
I’am expecting a very annoying person to follow up this comment
Hi,I’m that very annoying person. LOL. Don’t say I’m annoying la. I’m here to agree with you. Haha.
The latest R35 GT-R in stock form has reportedly been able to get from 0-100km/h in 2.9s with launch control while the older version is able to do the century sprint in 3.2s with launch control.
Also, this Badass Benz is just 0.2s slower than a Ferrari 458 Italia! How awesome is that, driving a 458 Italia and an uncle in an E63 AMG-S is keeping up with you? Haha.
But do note that this Badass Benz is more than 100kg heavier than the GT-R and more than 300kg heavier than the 458 Italia and it is not a sports car.
Imagine what Mercedes can do by putting the engine and all in a light, more compact body?
All this awesomeness in the world and I’m still driving a 0-100 in 8s car. That’s life I guess. Gonna work hard and maybe one day perhaps, eh, guys?
Cheers and happy Monday.
No actually is a certain GT-rider individual or something, the one who owns and brag about his GTR. One of the few common commenters I actually find annoying , no Sam Loo is not in the list, he is an easy person to ignore if you possessed enough tolerance.
The 2014 model GTR just recently drop the sprint mark to 2.7 sec (euro spec). But the GTR and the Italia are both essentially sports car. Whereas the Benz is a sedan, kinda bulky sedan. But the GTR and this Benz does show 4WD is really something …… Ain’t that right group B rally cars
Yeah,I notices that dude. Wait a while he might just comment sometimes later. Haha!
2.7s in stock form?? Damn!! That is fast for something that costs less than its rivals.
I just hope that the upcoming Honda NSX will be able to match the R35.
In terms of design, a lot of catching up to do with Lexus.
u got up from the wrong side of the bed? what catching up with Lexus…LEXUS is the one that NEEDS to catch up with sexy gorgeous continental cars designs. u’r an embarrassment!
I just not a fan of the rear-end…not just this facelift model but previous e class is not my cup of tea…not so sexy back..just like kim kardashian without the booty… ;)
It would appear that ‘lower bumper look’ seems to be a new design que from Germany, BMW has the same look on their M3.
Nice…!!
definitely a beauty and a beast
Love the overstyled front bumper !!
It will look very nice if the sedan E-class is taking the headlight of the E-coupe. One more step to go Merc !!
Finally Mercedes is matching or toping the rivals, extract from other sites :

E63 AMG was great job, but rear view i think got to change the design and can be more modified to improve the looks… if yes, i will get one of it, but not the time yet(rear design).
