There’s another Triton variant in town, the Mitsubishi Triton Heavy Duty 2.8 litre 4×4 Double Cab. Just like recently introduced Triton Single Cab before it, this one’s not meant for family use either as it’s only applicable for commercial registration. It’s priced at RM72,037 before insurance or RM73,832 and RM73,798 in Sabah and Sarawak respectively.
Only one engine choice is available, a tried and tested 2.8 litre non-turbocharged diesel motor with 97 PS and 198 Nm of torque matched to a five-speed manual transmission – the same combo you find on the Single Cab variant. It’s primed for absolute reliability even at the harshest working conditions rather than high speed highway cruises.
Also adding weight to its Heavy Duty billing are standard-fit off-roading equipment. It comes with mud-terrain tyres fitted on 16-inch light alloy wheels and upgraded suspension with gas-type shock absorbers to better deal with the rough terrain it’ll most likely be used on.
There’s not much in the way of safety features and creature comforts. Anti-intrusion brake pedal, collapsible steering and RISE (Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution) body structure are standard, as are a three-year/100,000 km warranty and two-year free maintenance package.

This is doing it right.
Low cost car to reduce cost for company.
x nampak heavy duty pun, nampak heavy weight ada la
I think the folks at Greenpeace would not be pleased by this visual portrayal of this advertisement.
This is to clear old stock of engines before new Triton?
NA Diesel engine?
Probably having trouble in sarawak and sabah due to it’s low pickup and less oxygen in the mountains.
But the reliability will be even better.
i think u come from jungle in semenanjung…
Are they giving the mud terrain tyres???
This model is actually catered to the workhorse pick-up segment left behind by the previous gen Hilux (the model with 2.8 NA engine and still runs by logging companies here in S’wak) so many years ago. Current Hilux’s reputations for reliability and offroadability is largely built upon that model so if this Triton can be at least as tough and become replacement-of-choice for those aging Hiluxes, it can only be a good thing for Mitsu’s rep.
Common rail diesel pump & injectors are unable to be feeded with drum storage diesel at construction site or plantations deep in the forest so the good choice, the old mechanical engine work here. Only 1 thing. It should be turbo charged! Low pressure air at the mountains pull down the horsepower & torque! Second, without turbo, the emission is probably euro 1 only thus pollute our environment more. On paper of course stated euro 2 but when the catalytic converter a little covered by sut, there you are… high CO2 coming out. No turbo will cause higher carbon monoxide, CO emission. No turbo, the insufficient oxygen cause high temperature from incomplete combustion which brings head gasket leaking. An old diesel engine diseases.
then if we install turbo to this engine will it solve the problem?
is this Mitsubishi Triton Heavy Duty 2.8 litre engine better compare to hilux diesel engine 2.8l?
FYI Toyota hilux did this long time ago…. 2.8 3l engine. Really durable until they came with the SR and SR turbo. Rock solid engine an no nonsense. Man and machine…
Mitsubishi should drop in a “lite” turbo to keep it going. What’s with commercial register only. I wouldn’t do that as I need to go Puspakom every 6 months and waste my time and money to get it inspected…..

It’s just detuned, that’s all.
Yea,, should come with T, 3D45T or 4M40T
Is there a new Triton coming soon? The current design looks dated compared to its competitors.
I think private individual can buy now. Check out the Mit My web site.
Maybe commercial sales is low, thus opened for individual private..
