Honda has released the first visual of its 2014 World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) challenger reflecting the new technical regulations for the FIA WTCC that will come into force for 2014.
This Honda Civic WTCC rendering shows swelled wheel arches, larger diameter wheels, a sleeker aero package and extended rear spoiler. Add all this to increased engine power and the 2014 Honda WTCC racer is looking good to retain the Manufacturers World Championship crown. But it will have to get past Citroen and one Mr Loeb first.
Two works cars will be run by JAS Motorsport for Gabriele Tarquini and Tiago Monteiro with further Civics to be entered by private outfits Zengo Motorsport and Proteam Racing for Hungary’s Norbert Michelisz and Moroccan Mehdi Bennani respectively. This follows the recent unveiling of the 2014 BTCC Civic Tourer racer, with Matt Neal and Gordon ‘Flash’ Shedden confirmed as Honda Yuasa Racing drivers for another season.
Salivating at the pic above? You’ll be able to buy a hot Civic hatch soon as Honda is putting the final touches to its new Honda Civic Type R hatchback, ahead of the car’s expected launch in 2015. The new CTR will be the first Type R to feature a turbo engine, and it will also be the most powerful one yet, with output of over 280 hp. Click here for the full CTR story and here for a video of it pounding the ‘Ring.

It’s simply stunning from all angle…
Not technologically breakthrough comparing with other makers… But it’s racing spirit remain visible… Good job :)
This sushi mod is tastefully done up
Awesome !
Honda kuat racist nih. semua race pun nak join.
semalam BTCC, skarang WTCC, besok WRC?
Racing issit? Racist.
That car looks menacing!!
Honestly, we often choose Conti instead of the Japs. Why? the only reason is to preserve a person’s image and typical Malaysian thinks that European cars are more reliable. Well, it is not like that, not always. Based on WhatCar? research, Honda topped the league with most reliable car for eight years in a row and it is Japanese, not European. If this Type R ever land in Malaysia, we can see how it sweep away the Continental cars of its class.
Designed by European, engineered by Japanese.
Never heard of conti being reliable, except for old Merc and Volvo. Luxury yes. Reliable? Lol, dsg, banyak masuk workshop, alfa all very ‘quality’
Here reliable is God car Almighty vios bodohs like sam loo like to banggala
As we are talking about a WTCC car: Baseed on WTCC files, Honda is one of the worst competitors 15 years in a row… :D
speechless… well done HONDA…
That is one nice looking type-r hatchback
Let this civic claim back the throne as the best fwd car.
Guys, need a clarification.
Roughly, When will this civic Type R landed here? It’s really 2015?
Anyone please.
Honda has a couple of years of experience with WTCC, I think it is Citroen who needs to get past Honda (and Chevrolet), not the other way round. On the other hand, the grid and variety in BTCC is much healthier (where you could also see Proton Persona battling with the bigger automotive marques) compared to WTCC, next year..worth checking it out.
Yes, Honda has a couple of years of experience losing races at WTCC.
