Nissan has teased a new pickup truck, scheduled to be launched on June 11. From the looks of it, it could be the long-awaited replacement for the current Navara, which has been in production for 10 years now.
Looking through the white veil, we can see the traditional Nissan truck grille, with the two vertical bars spaced further apart. New additions include headlights with LED daytime running lights, as well as what appears to be chrome-edged fog light surrounds.
We do know that the next-generation Navara will be developed in tandem with the forthcoming Mitsubishi Triton replacement – which will also be launching this year – and will share the same platform. Currently, both the Navara and the Triton are built at Mitsubishi Motors’ plant at the Laem Chabang Industrial Estate in Chonburi, Thailand (our Navaras are assembled locally at Tan Chong’s plant in Segambut).

This Model will be first launched in Thailand on 11th June, and
Nissan and Mitsubishi have separately developed and manufactured the pickup model. Therefore this the new NAVARA model will be manufactured in the new Nissan plant, Samut Prakran, Thailand; and export to global countries. (except North America and Europe)
Unofficial specification:
New YD2.5 engine and the new 7 speeds automatic transmission
VDC, HSA, ABS, EBD, etc.
The 7-speed auto is the same one used by the 370Z, isn’t it? Looks like this will be Mother Trucker 2.0 and the pick-up truck horsepower war is heating up again!
… err no. Not the same. If they did use the 370Z tranny, it would just self-destruct everytime the Navara had to tow a heavy load…
Read it will use a Renault diesel 2.3L with a 210hp output. Thai website. Don’t know if it is true.
Why does a pickup truck needs daytime running LED?
Daytime running light is mandatory for European countries as a measure to prevent car emitting exhaust gas while not moving.
However, some people abuse this as a fancy decoration for countries not enforcing DRL.
My brain just did a flip-flop on your comment about why DRLs are used in Europe… In the USA, several states have DRL requirements for their vehicles. Main reason stated for DRLs is to improve visibility of the vehicles while driving. European reasoning for DRLs is strange if what you say is true…
all vehicle needs them..apparently its one of the regulations in europe
Question is why not?
Gorgeous!!!! At long last, DRL on a pickup :)
Hopefully this replacement pickup truck will have the same lineup in Europe and Australia globally whereby:
2.5L YD25DDTi (high power) engine will have 190ps and 450Nm of torque, mated with 6-speed manual or optional 7-speed auto.
3.0L V6 V9X engine will remain its output of 240ps and 500Nm and 7-speed auto.
This all new navara will be paired with 2.8 litre inline 4 Cummins engine. Currently used in foton tunland. based on figure this engine will produce 210 hp with 520 Nm of torque at 1800 rpm. Fuel economy as tested is 8.4L/100km. Cant Wait!!
Luv the curent navara….although dash is showing its age…n nissans generally have boring n simple meter layout…..
when will the new xtrail arriving in boleh land?
New X-Trail 2014 will be assembled and launched in Thailand around October 2014. Hope it will be available in Malaysia soon after that.
Nice.. IF Cummins engine 2.8.. Does that mean the Bison selling here is good as well?
Nissan Sylphy – Full Safety.
Nissa Teana – Full Safety.
Ford all Ranger from cheap to expensive ady come with ESC.
Nissan who have been trying hard to be low price leader, I expect Nissan New-Pickup Frontier/Navara to come with Full Safety across the range just like in Sylphy and Teana.
if not, it would be overpriced.
