Mercedes-Benz’s front-wheel drive small car family is set to welcome its fifth member in 2015, when production of the Mercedes-Benz CLA Shooting Brake starts.
The CLA Shooting Brake will join the A-Class hatchback, B-Class mini MPV, CLA “four-door coupe” and GLA crossover. The wagon version of the booted CLA was confirmed by M-B at the recent reveal of the facelifted CLS and CLS Shooting Brake, according to various reports.
The baby Shooting Brake is not much of a secret actually – we showed you spyshots of the car testing back in November 2013, pasted below. What’s next from Stuttgart? How about a sexy sixth in the form of a compact roadster?

So basically it’s another iteration of an A-class? Super confused
It is. They are building it out to a family. Non premium C segment cars often come in 3 to 5 versions. There’s always a 5 door hatchback, often a 3 door hatchback, sometimes a sedan and wagon version too. Finally there may be a cabriolet version. There may also be a mini MPV based on it, which may or may not carry the name.
For example: Citroen C4 3 door, 5 door, C-Elyssee (?) (sedan in China, where using 4 in the name isn’t a good idea), C4 Picasso/Grand Picasso. Or the Golf (3 and 5 door), Bora/Vento/Jetta (depending on the generation and market), Golf Cabrio, Golf Variant (wagon), Golf+ (mini MPV-ish thing). Focus 3 door, 5 door, Focus Turnier (wagon), Focus CC (cabrio/coupe with folding top), C-Max.
The A class is a hit, it makes sense for them to spread it out.
I guess the “SLA” is coming in 2017.
Pointless..it already has a cramped interior..shooting brakes should be kept to it’s bigger brother…da cls
It should be bigger on the inside though, at least there should be more space for tall rear passengers. And perhaps the rear seats could be on rails, so you can move them back. Who knows.
Well, it’s not getting any prettier, i think Mercedes should just stop here…
