SPYSHOTS: Infiniti Q30 hatch drops some of its camo

Infiniti Q30 2

It appears that the Infiniti Q30 is inching closer to its production debut, as our trusty European spies have managed to capture the Japanese premium hatch out and about with far less disguise on.

From the looks of it, the production version looks to be fairly faithful to the concept introduced at Frankfurt 2013. It shares the same general proportions, curvaceous body and shapely head- and tail lights, although it does gain more toned down front and rear fascias, door handles and larger door mirrors. Doesn’t it look just a tiny bit like a Mazda 3 from some angles, though?

Based on the Modular Front Architecture (MFA) that also underpins the Mercedes-Benz A-Class (and its QX30 crossover cousin), the Q30 will gain Stuttgart’s turbocharged four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines, as well as the optional Haldex all-wheel drive system. Both the Q30 and the QX30 will be built at Nissan’s Sunderland plant in the UK.

Look for the production Infiniti Q30 to arrive on showroom floors sometime later this year, followed by the QX30 in 2016.
