The Ford Vignale Mondeo has finally been revealed – the new top-of-the-range variant of the Euro-market D-segment sedan is shown here in production trim, after it was teased through a concept at Frankfurt 2013. Ford promises a unique, more premium product and ownership experience with this variant.

As seen on the show car, the Vignale features a few distinguishing visual cues to mark it out from regular Mondeos. The grille features a new hexagonal motif in a dark matte metallic finish, framed by a polished aluminium surround. The lower bumper has also been reshaped, with new chrome bars.

This shiny finish also extends to the side rubbing strips, while the pillar trims get a high-gloss finish. Finishing off the look are unique 18-inch wheels; metallic paint comes as standard, with new options including Vignale Black, Vignale Silver and four-coat Vignale White.

Inside, the luxury-spec Mondeo receives laser-cut Vignale leather upholstery with hexagonal quilting and tuxedo stitching, extending to the instrument panel, centre console, armrest and door top rolls. Keeping the noise out are added sound insulation and acoustic glass, as well as an Active Noise Cancellation system, which makes its European debut on this car.

The Vignale is offered with three of the Mondeo’s most powerful drivetrains – a 210 PS 2.0 TDCi biturbo diesel with a six-speed manual, a 240 PS 2.0 litre EcoBoost petrol (with six-speed manual and PowerShift dual-clutch transmissions) and a 187 PS petrol-electric hybrid; Ford’s intelligent all-wheel drive (iAWD) is also available.

All Vignales are hand-finished at the Vignale Centre at Ford’s Valencia plant, with 100 additional checks for panel alignment, paint finish and leather quality. It will be available to order at flagship FordStore centres across Europe from May, priced from £29,045 (RM157,500).

Surely you can’t hand finish air cond knob, signal and wiper stalk and put leather on dashboard and why not go the extra yard and make bespoke metal air-cond vent or louvre for that matter, just my opinion.
