SPYSHOTS: New Audi RS3 spotted testing on the track

Audi RS3 Sedan spyshots 8

Audi rolled out its refreshed A3 not too long ago, and it appears that the German carmaker is poised to introduce a high-performance, RS version of the Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class rival soon, according to these spyshots.

Our spy photographers managed to capture what appears to be the upcoming RS3 in its sedan form, as it undergoes testing on a track. The prototype seen here isn’t as heavily camouflaged as its larger RS sibling, with only certain sections of the car being taped off.

Based on what we can see, the RS3 will most likely receive a full bodykit to distinguish itself visually from both the standard A3 and slightly more powerful S3 models. This includes a new front bumper with larger intakes, a new front grille design (honeycomb mesh in this instance), side skirting, a new rear bumper and possibly a bootlid lip spoiler.

Another indicator that this is the high-performance version of the A3 are the pair of oval-shaped exhaust pipes, a trademark of Audi RS models, which is also found on the latest Audi TT RS. Zoom in on the prototype’s brakes and you’ll notice that the discs are much larger than those on both the A3 and S3 as well.

Of course, it’s not all show and no go. The RS3 is expected to feature Audi’s 2.5 litre turbocharged five-cylinder engine TFSI engine, another standard item on the TT RS. In the two-door coupe, the mill develops 400 hp and 480 Nm, paired to a seven-speed S Tronic dual-clutch automatic transmission. We’ll have to wait for the full reveal to confirm if this is indeed the powertrain the RS3 will receive.

When the RS3 makes its global debut, it will have to square off against the likes of the Mercedes-Benz CLA 45 AMG. Should the new RS3 sedan’s power output be identical to that of the TT RS, it will surpass the figures the Mercedes’ 2.0 litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine generates – 381 hp and 475 Nm.

Audi A3 Sedan looks like it has copied Mitsubishi Lancer design. Subaru fans aren’t amused either. S3 is Evo, and RS3 is FQ400.

      Subaru fans don’t appreciate.

It is referred to as classy, simple yet nice, not boring. What’s the use if a vehicle got stunning design but performance like shit. Audi certainly will not give you a boring performance.

i’ve always appreciate Audi S and RS designs. Very subtle, clean, not too overwhelming kinda look. Makes it a perfect “sleeper” car… especially the RS6. With just a glimpse, most would think that it is a just an ordinary wagon. Only a true car enthusiast can tell that the RS6 is a whole different level kinda beast!

pretty sure the RS3 Sedan will be a stunner too…

Audi finally give Mitsubishi Evo buyers a new chance. Subaru fanboys aren’t amused either, let alone Mercedes CLA45.
