A test mule that appears to be the next-gen Audi RS5 was seen testing somewhere in Germany. Based on the second-gen Audi A5 coupe, there are a few indications that this is, in fact, the RS variant.
Of course, those extended wheel arches would be the most obvious giveaway. That being said, those aren’t real extensions as they’ve just been fitted on for test reasons. The front bumper also appears to be slightly different, while the rear bumper has a more slanted shape. The RS5 is also expected to build on design elements from the next-generation Audi S5.
The next-gen RS5 will sit on the MLB Evo platform, which in turn will see its overall weight reduced and will also likely translate to better performance and fuel efficiency as well. As expected, quattro all-wheel drive will be available as standard with the RS5.
As for power, word has it that Audi will be implanting a twin-turbo 3.0 litre V6 with over 450 hp, to be shared with the next-gen RS4. As a refresher, both the outgoing RS4 and RS5 utilise a naturally-aspirated 4.2 litre V8 unit that produces 450 hp and 430 Nm.
The new mill should be mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox, while reports claim that an eight-speed automatic could also be a possible option. Elsewhere, expect the RS5 to come with Audi’s virtual cockpit and new MMI interface along with a host of driver assistance features as well.

Oh wai… some thought this was P1 spyshot.
Honestly, it looks 90% like the current RS5. Audi’s evolutionary design strategy is getting quite boring. New A4 looks 90% similar to old A4. New R8 too.
