SPYSHOTS: 2017 Audi S5 shows off quad exhausts

Audi S5 3

Yesterday, we showed you the first spyshots of the second-generation Audi A5 testing in Germany – now here’s its sportier sister doing the same. The 2017 Audi S5 has been spotted in the wild, wearing an Ingolstadt license plate that’s just a number apart from the A5 mule – 7734 vs 7733.

We had to squint our eyes for this one. Number plate aside, today’s subject wears the same twin five-spoke wheels as the A5 mule, and the visible parts of the lower bumper and fog lamp housing appear similar, too. Ditto the sides and rear end, except for the visible quad pipes on this car. The previous mule had just two pipes on the left side. The current A5 and S5 have the same arrangement.

Despite the extensive camouflage, we can see the new coupe’s shape, and it’s clear that the new car will be an evolution of today’s A5, which is still looking very sleek we must say.

The headlights look set to keep their rectangular shape – rather than adopting the upcoming B9 A4’s C-shaped units – while the characteristic side profile, window shape and undulating swage line also looks to have been retained. Even the tail lights look to have been unchanged, save for new boomerang-shaped graphics.

Built on a development of the MLB platform – dubbed MLB Evo, first used on the new Q7 – the A5, like the A4, is set to utilise ultra high-strength steel, aluminium and composite materials, with hopes of cutting up to 100 kg from the current car’s weight.

The F32 BMW 4 Series-rival should be getting a similar suspension setup to the A4 – five-link front suspension and self-tracking trapezoidal-link rear suspension. Under the bonnet, an all-new 2.0 litre TFSI petrol engine should sit alongside a range of TDI diesel and petrol mills, mated to either six-speed manual or seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch transmissions. Quattro AWD and FWD versions will be available.

Better buy Myvi, got toyoda reliability. Airbags no need more than 2. You can add octa exhausts too, very very fast. faster than Audi.

    Wait, what is VSC?
