Second-gen Audi A5 teased via odd camouflage GIF

The new Audi A5 Coupe will be unveiled slightly more than two weeks from now, so this teaser is a little strange. Camouflage is the theme, and just like the owl that blends in with its background, a camouflaged new A5 does the same. But why is Audi “promoting” its test mules? Maybe one needs to be German to understand – the text Google translates to “so goes camouflage, so goes coupe”.

The second-gen Audi A5 won’t be a wallflower. That’s because the current car is still looking handsome after all these years, and the next-gen is expected to be a sharper evolution of the Walter de Silva-penned, B8-based original. We’re also looking forward to Audi’s new minimalist-style cabin to take care of the only dated part of the outgoing car.

The coupe sister to the B9 A4, which will take on the BMW 4 Series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe, will make its world debut on June 2 at the company’s base in Ingolstadt. Cabriolet and Sportback variants have been caught testing and are next on the list.

  • Both new-gen Civic & Audi A5 have sloping roofline looks.

Civic offers higher practicality, value, ride, refinement & performance though.

Audi cars these days are getting more and more boring in terms of looks. why someone with the capability of producing one of the most stylish and best looking cabins in the world, can’t even make their cars look as stylish and chic, is really beyond me. The perfect examples: the latest Q7 and A4.

Audi, bring back those super cool and stylish-looking cars of early 21st century please?

The Germans can be a conservative bunch, especially for executive saloons.

BMW tried to be different. Didn’t win them much accolades by going far to the left.

But I agree, the Germans are so preoccupied in what each other is building that they all end up building the same car.

But in this case, it’s a coupe. Make it pretty. You set out to build a supermodel and you dress her up as a GND.

This is the thing I never really understood about the A5 Coupe. If Audi has to build a bespoke body for the coupe anyway, why not go an extra step and make it a little more interesting.

I mean for a coupe, you are basically sacrificing utility for looks.

Audi was the pinnacle of car design some years ago. They seemed to be stuck somewhere and refuse to radically change. The designs and outlook is starting to look old. Even the 360 Modena looks old nowadays compared to the 458 Italia. Change audi.. you need change….
