New Audi A5 Coupe to make world debut on June 2

It’s officially just around the corner now, the second-generation Audi A5 Coupe. Ingolstadt has revealed that the coupe sister of the B9 A4 – which was revealed a year ago – will make its world debut on June 2 at the company’s base in Germany.

Audi will throw a free party to welcome the arrival of the A5 Coupe. On six consecutive evenings starting on Wednesday, May 25, visitors to the Audi Forum Ingolstadt will be able to enjoy a 3D video mapping light show by the Hungarian “Maxin10sity” group of artists. The “Audi Late Light Show” will use 55 video projectors each with a light intensity of 40,000 ANSI lumen. DJs, clips from the upcoming “20min|max” short-film festival, classic Audis and food trucks will also be there.

“This art experience is a thank-you to the Audi employees and the people of Ingolstadt. In Ingolstadt, we have developed the new Audi A5 Coupe, we produce it here, and we will present it here as a new design icon to the world press for the first time on June 2,” said Toni Melfi, Audi’s head of communications.

The debut of the A5, which fights the BMW 4 Series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe, is no surprise and has been keenly anticipated by admirers of the (for me) still-gorgeous Walter de Silva-penned, B8-based original. Expect an update to Audi’s new minimalist-style cabin and sharper looks compared to the outgoing car. Cabriolet and Sportback variants have been caught testing and are on the way.

Comments

  • Bashers once said why need to test until Matt Damon comes home from Mars, or why test stickiness of old newspaper. Just launch the car alredi, since its same boring/old design with its other siblings. No need to cover here cover there, test until cows comes home.

Just want to repeat their words for posterity.
