Audi A5 DTM selection special edition, 50 sporty units

Audi A5 DTM Selection-01

The ageing Audi A5 has been given a special edition boost in the form of this Audi A5 DTM selection, of which only 50 units will be available.

The Audi A5 DTM selection trumps up the two-door coupe’s connections with the race version that has featured in the German Touring Car Masters (DTM). It’s the third DTM special edition built by Audi after the B7 A4 in 2005 and this same A5 in 2013.

This time, the A5 DTM is based on the 3.0 TDI variant with 245 hp and 580 Nm, good for 0-100 km/h in 5.9 seconds. A seven-speed S tronic gearbox transfers drive to the quattro permanent all-wheel drive system.

The DTM selection is in Misano Red with gloss black add-on parts on the front, sills and rear. The front apron and the large air inlets with their rhombus-pattern grilles also contribute to the sporty appeal. The cast aluminium 20-inch wheels by Audi Sport are in a five twin-spoke design with matte titanium finish, wrapped with 265/30 tyres. Stickers complete the exterior changes.

Entry lighting projects a DTM logo on the road when you open the door. The cabin boasts Audi Sport logos on the door sill trim, dark-tinted windows at the rear, Misano Red inlays, red stitching on the seats and Alcantara sports steering wheel and steel pedals. The main event are the bucket seats from the RS model.

The Audi A5 DTM selection is priced at 74,540 euros (RM357,642) in Germany. The next-gen A5 isn’t too far away – the B9 A4 is already out and mules of the new coupe have been seen lapping the Nurburgring. Theophilus Chin thinks it will look like this.
