Bandwidth Caps for Broadband?

I was surfing Jaring’s website to find out more information about it’s wired broadband service when I came across this clause in it’s MY015 Reach package.

8. Free usage of up to 2000MB of data for upload and download (Until 30th September 2005 only). Excess usage charge is RM15 for every 1000MB.

Since JARING has started implementing this, is this a sign that are we going to see data transfer caps in all our broadband packages including those from TMNet?

This is a very big turn-off indeed. 2GB of data for a 1mbps line runs out really fast even if you’re not a download freak.

Refer to this page at Jaring.

New 2006 Toyota RAV4 to be unveiled at Frankfurt Motor Show

Toyota will unveil it’s 3rd generation Toyota RAV4 at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September this year. When the RAV4 first came out 11 years ago, it set fire to the compact SUV market and the 2nd generation RAV4 remains a best seller in the European 4X4 market. The 2nd generation Toyota RAV4 is available locally as a CBU model from Toyota and is powered by a 2 liter VVT-i engine.

The new 3rd generation 2006 Toyota RAV4 will be bigger than the 1st and 2nd generation RAV4s and is rumoured to be powered by a bigger engine. There are talks of a 3.0 liter V6 producing 230hp, but nothing is confirmed.

Thanks to DOG THE WAN for the scoop.

Satria R3 Blog

A few Satria R3 owners have started a blog called The R3gister. It’s tagline goes “The unofficial resource site for everything Satria R3 LEV”. I guess I don’t have to explain what the blog is about. Head on to The R3gister if you want to know more about the Satria R3 and read first hand reviews and ownership experiences. Good effort by Vernon, Prozac51 and Jakuuzeeman.

Volkswagen Super Turbo

I’ve not heard a modern day implementation of the Superturbo since the 1.0 supercharged and turbocharged MA09ERT engine in the Nissan March Superturbo almost 15 years ago. That little gem made 110ps on a 770kg body, with 0.7 bar total boost.

Now Volkswagen is using that idea for it’s engines in order to remove turbo lag and boost power for it’s smaller engines. Volkswagen’s twincharging system is called SuperTurbo Compounding, a name given by the system’s supercharger supplier Eaton.

Volkswagen Jetta GLI

Do you think you’re staring at the sexy face of a Volkswagen Golf GTI?

Nope. Notice the different badge on the sporty honeycomb grille. It says GLI instead of GTI. This beauty is actually a Volkswagen Jetta GLI.

Dr. M’s AP Formula

Dr. M has spoken again on the AP issue after a long silence. He was in Gurun, Kedah recently attending the 80th birthday bash that Naza Automotive Manufacturing Sdn Bhd had hosted for him.

There must be a balance. If the APs are to be issued, let them not reach a point where they can kill Proton and if Proton is allowed to progress, let it not come to a point where it kills other parties.

He didn’t mention any particular formula or ratio though. Anyone think this would work?
