Ford: Only Fords in our car park please

Ford Motor Co just announced that from February 1st 2006 onwards, there will be no vehicles from makes other than those built by Ford or one of it’s subsidiaries allowed in it’s Ford Dearborn Tuck Plant in Michigan.

It’s not a company-wide policy, but only native to the Michigan plant. Opinions are split on the decision. On one hand, some hard-core corporate-patriotic employees are of the opinion that everyone’s in it together to turn Ford’s North American division profitable by 2008, and they should buy the products they make and support the company. On the other hand, some think Fords do not give you the best bang for your buck and since it’s a free country the employees should be free to drive whatever make they want.

Are Perodua vehicles or other makes allowed in the Proton headquarters parking lots?

The Road Angels

I’ve come across this pretty interesting service called the Road Angels so I thought I’d introduce them to you here, since all of you probably have cars and there’s a chance you’d get into a situation where you’ll need them.

Let’s say you’re in a car, driving somewhere, and you can’t drive for some reason. Maybe you’re drunk (highly possible), maybe you lost your glasses and can’t see in the dark, maybe you’re lost. Maybe you’re female and you don’t feel safe driving home alone at night. Whatever the reason. Give the Road Angels a call and two Road Angels will come by on a motorcycle. One will drive for you, and the other will follow by motorcycle.

Teams are stationed in areas like the Golden triangle, Ampang, Cheras, PJ, Subang, Bangsar, Sri Hartamas, D’sara, Taman Tun, Jln Kelang Lama and Jnl Sungei Besi. As for destinations, borders are Kajang in the south, Rawang in the north, Gombak in the west and Klang in the east.

The fees are pretty acceptable especially when you’re drunk. Safety is priority, you don’t want to crash and kill yourself or kill someone else, and you don’t want to get hauled off to the police station if you’re caught driving under the influence of alcohol. First 20km is RM30, and every next 15km is RM10. There are also some other charges depending on the trip.

Operating hours are Monday to Sunday 9pm to 4am, and 24×7 service is said to be coming soon. For more information log on to their website at http://www.roadangels.com.my/

It really wouldn’t hurt to keep information on how to contact them in your wallet or something just in case you need their services one rainy day. Touch wood!

Honda Civic Euro Video

This is Honda’s promotional footage for the Honda Civic Euro hatchback, which is of course available in Europe only unless you import one in. It has a different two-tiered dashboard design than the USDM and JDM Civics that we’ll be getting, and did I forget to mention it’s a hatchback? The USDM Civic is only available in sedan and coupe form.

Anyway enjoy it, I know I did. Video after the jump.

2006 Honda Civic in Malaysia - Front Spyshot

A reader sent this in. The 2006 Honda Civic, this time with a frontal spyshot. Looking good. The square Honda badge’s outline is kind of visible through all the masking. Headlamps disguised. And it kind of looks like the wing mirrors are wrapped with tape too, so maybe we have signal indicators on the signal lamp, otherwise there would be no reason to mask it out. I heard Honda showrooms are already taking bookings. Now if only I can strike that lottery…

Update: The new 2006 Honda Civic has already been launched, have a look at the 2006 Honda Civic in-depth post.
