mclaren has good chasis design due to the presence of aerodynamist adrian newey and technical man like peter prodromou. since their departure to red bull, it is apparent mclaren camp will suffers. word of advice to mclaren: 'what goes around, comes around' (poaches alonso frm renault, loses 3 men to ferrari and red bull) :p engine works frm mercedes at ilmor as usual are not stable yet! gremlins are mclaren best friend.

team to watch this year maybe toyota and red bull racing. they will be the underdogs. bmw sauber petronas may not be that spectacular due to their infant stage of development as a whole racing entity. front row could be renault, ferrari, honda & mclaren.

McLaren could still perform well despite departure of Newey, becoz their aerodynamic is designed early b4 his departure.. I look forward to 2007, combination of Alonso and McLaren..
Bare in mind, road car isnt the same wif F1 car.. So, no matter how many V8 engines for road car, it doesnt mean that they can perform well in F1 car..
Plus, FIA purposely bring back the tyre changes rule is in favor wif Bridgestone user. Yeah.. the main point is Ferrari. This year to watch is Ferrari.. They'll be back.. If another year oof Ferrari domination, I'll quit watching F1, until Max Mosley is sack.. :p
we must understand that in formula 1, aero works are designed in phases and do not cover the whole season championships. one must notice changes, improvement and overcome shortfalls to win. therefore, there are test sessions in between championships to find solutions.
for example, how toyota turn their 2005 mid season crisis around with their new B spec bodyworks is an example how a good aerodynamist like mike gascoyne can change a race car which he did not involved during winter 2004 design phase.
ron dennis and martin whitmarsh are apparently trying to keep the lid tight about their top guns being poached by other teams. 2 aeromen and 1 technical guy leaving at the same time does spell disaster in the mean time. internal affairs such as who will be retained for 2007 will sparks fire between kimi and montoya for the best specs. i bet montoya will be on fire.
rules change on tyres are resulted from michelin farce at indy. therefore, we can't simply blame the rules favour the reds. previous rules changed on slick to groove during late 90s never help the reds. yet they won the constructor title. it is more who has the ability to turnaround with different conditions and settings.
tyre change during pitstop is good for drivers for safety issues where high speed collisions produce puntures to others due to debris. one must note tyre delamination and blistering is very frequent with michelin shod racers.therefore,many drivers are in favour of tyre change; especially they are gutted by how ron dennis put his drivers on the line in the event of tyre failure, they must continue to race till it blows. we have seen that incident with kimi, don't we?

Remember the 2005 US Grand Prix? Michelin runners didn't run because their tyres would just literally crack wide open at turn 13 at some point, and there was nothing they could do about it due to the 1-set-of-tyres-for-a-race rule. This is why tyre changes are back, to avoid humiliating scenes like the one at the US GP.
And with the one-tyre-formula starting in 2007, all teams will be Bridgestone runners, so this puts Ferrari at a disadvantage as they will no longer be Bridgestone's "special customer".
This is all because of Max Mosley, the man who has been re-elected every time which is why he has been the president of the FIA for over a decade, the same man who has improved saftey and reduce costs in the pinnacle of motorsports.
Isa, I don't think Ferrari are at any disadvantages at all. All these years, Bridgestone has always give Ferrari 800% commitment and extra input for the tyre choice. Unlike other team who's on Bridgestone they only get like what…..70%? 80%? of total input? Heck, no wonder they all switched to Michelin before. I believe one of the reason helping the downfall of Ferrari last season could be the lack of data on tyre wear as they only have one source to have it.
For all I know, Ferrari will always be "special costumer" to Bridgestone. And it is true that IT IS RETURNING ON THE FAVOUR OF FERRARI!
As much as Bridgestone and Ferrari are dubbed as "partners", Bridgestone is a business. Therefore it is only natural for such a business to sell the best of their product at the highest price to whoever has the money. Toyota are rich, so are Honda, with Vodafone defecting to McLaren binded by a contract until 2011, a lot of the top and rising teams have a lot dosh to spend, Bridgestone will therefore supply them with tyres that contain the best of compoounds.
So with the single tyre formula rule in 2007, why would Ferrari be Bridgestone's special customer any more than Toyota or Honda or McLaren? Bear in mind that with the single tyre formula starting in 2007, Bridgestone wouldn't care less which team wins the driver's or constructor's title as long as they use Bridgestone tyres (which they obviously will).
And it isn't true that tyre changes are back because of Ferrari!!! Having tyre-changing races would only coincidentally help Bridgestone, the sole reason for having tyre changing back is to avoid humiliating scenes like the US GP!!!!
Besides, Michelin could create 400km endurace tyres that lasted a whole race, so creating 100km sprint tyres would be a cakewalk!!!
