Supercharged E46 BMW M3

small_m3_grey.jpgNothing much other than optical and aural masturbation, here’s a video of an E46 BMW M3 with a bolt on supercharger. In stock form, the BMW M3 is powered by a 3.2 liter normally aspirated inline-6 engine with the code S54B32. The S54B32 is a high performance derivative of the M54 straight-six engine with 6 individual throttle bodies, making 342 horsepower at 7,900rpm and 355Nm of torque at 4,900rpm. Just after peak horsepower, the engine reaches it’s redline at 8,000rpm. While the new E90 BMW M3 will feature a V8 based on the current M5’s V10, the E46 M3’s straight six is still used in the current BMW Z4 M Roadster and Z4 M Coupe.

From the looks of it its’s a BMW M3 CSL. It develops 360 bhp instead of the normal 343. It’s lighter than the normal M3, too, with carbon roof, no electric seats or side airbags, and extensive use of composites for other components.

    Teh awesome.

i thought superchargers are only good for low end performance? reaching high end, it might be a lesser performa compared to the original M3 due power from crankshaft had been ‘borrowed’ to spin the supercharger’s turbine?

Haha, I love how the plate license says LOADED. Maybe if the game developers see this they would make a “Need For Speed: LOADED” game.

Yeah, This is the CSL version definitely. The supercharger is not only for low end power. If used on a high horsepowers car, it can deliver good torque nearly anywhere in the torque band. A turbo would work well here too, but clearly this guy isn’t looking for any lag at all.
