Ford Focus ST and Fiesta ST get upgrade kits

Ford Fiesta ST

Ford Europe has two performance upgrade kits for two of their hot hatches, the Ford Fiesta ST and the Ford Focus ST. The 2.0 litre Duratec in the Ford Fiesta ST gets its power upgraded from 148 to 185 horses, thanks to new ECU software, cylinder heads, a new camshaft and exhaust system.

Imagine this kit in the similiar Duratec engine in our Focus 2.0 – the car’s excellent chassis and suspension would finally get the power it deserves!

The Ford Focus ST gets a kit comprising of an air filter kit, an updated ECU and an exhaust system, bringing up power by 38 horses to a total of 260.

The good news is this kit can be ordered with a new car, but it can also be retrofitted to exhaust Focus ST and Fiesta ST hatches already on the road.

focus is such an under-rated car in our market.

we don’t officially get the focus st but there is a focus xr5 (the one and only unit in malaysia). this is the same as the st but is branded differently since it originates from australia (smart move since the xr6 has strong presence in australia)

Great news, get to increase the power without vioding the warranty. Im actually deciding between the Golf GTI and the XR5 (im in Oz). Test driven both of them couple of months back and felt that the gti was slightly quicker than the xr5. I love the sound of the xr5 when accelerating, but the dsg box in the gti is really really cool.

allan, both are great cars. but if you prefer a more “raw” experience, take the xr5! the engine note is sweeeeeeet. the gti is a bit more quiet and comfy. :) but that’s just me. hehe.

well not quite. the xr5 is not what you would call raw…its quite civilised in fact. although the gti feels more upmarket and rides abit better. i’ve seen pictures of the upcoming facelifted xr5 and its pretty good looking, should be here by mid 08.
