Artega GT powered by VW’s 3.6L FSI V6

Artega GT

The Artega GT is a German-born competitor to the Porsche Cayman S that weighs only 1,100kg (though over 10k UK pounds more expensive than the Cayman S for a weight advantage of 250kg) thanks to an aluminium spaceframe and a carbon composite bodyshell.

With that kind of weight it’s really not necessary for oversized engines to be plonked into the mid-mounted engine bay. All that’s needed is the Volkswagen Group’s 3.6 litre FSI V6 engine producing a standard 296 horsepower to give the car a sub-5 second 0 to 100km/h acceleration time. This engine is mated to the smooth and quick-shifting 6-speed DSG transmission from BorgWarner.

The 2-seater mid-enginened sports car is 3,950mm long, 1,180mm tall and 1,880mm wide and was styled by Henrik Fisker.

Look after the jump for a couple of more shots of the sports car.

The car’s horspower to displacement ratio seems to be lower than the Golf’s 2.0 FSI (100hp per Liter). They should turbocharge it to reach 360-400hp… and target the car to challenge the 911s instead of the Cayman. The exterior look is already menacing…

interior is nice. mix of modern n classic. exterior design might be stolen from the porsche’s engineers. no wonder porsche hasn’t came up with fresh ideas since last 40 years,…the artega boys took it! hahaha

Those of you that thing this car is underpowered should pay more atention to power to weight ratio than its headline outputs.

This car has a power to weight ration of 269 bhp per tonne, compare that to a 997 Carerra S which has 246 per tonne so it is well into 911 territory already!

The front really captivating. Smooth, like they have mashed up a Carrera GT and MG TF? About the whole body design, really looks like an Evora with California. All in all it’s nice, but the rear is a bit too bold.

hopefully they dont go bankrupt before they actually deliver any customer cars, considering the large drop in sales for premium/sports cars in europe at the moment.
