Proton launches “1Perayaan Proton” programme to celebrate the festive season

Proton has introduced a special programme called 1Perayaan Proton to celebrate the upcoming festive period with all Malaysians, what with Ramadan and Syawal 1432 Hijrah as well as National Day and Malaysia Day taking place over the next month.

The programme, with a ‘Commit To Be Better’ theme, runs until September 16 and features a variety of activities and initiatives by the national car company. For starters, the company is providing a variety of special offers to Proton owners this festive season. Up until September 15, Proton Edar service centres throughout the country will offer a free 18-point safety inspection service to all Proton car owners so they can ensure that their cars are in good condition for the long distance trip home.

Up to August 29, Proton Edar will be extending the operating hours at all its centres from 8am to 5pm, right through the week. A special Raya service package called ProCare Basic Plus has also been introduced – customers who spend RM300 and above for the service will be in the running to win an iPad2 and other prizes. There’s also a special sales promotion for those looking to purchase a new Proton; running until August 31, there are discounts, free services and some great prizes to be had. More info on this can be gleaned from the retail outlets.

There’s also a VIP (Very Important Proton) Program, which invites all Proton car owners to relive the sweetest and most special experience they’ve had with their Proton. As part of this, a ‘My Proton Makeover’ will be conducted, in which five selected Proton car owners with the most interesting story will win a prize in the form of a makeover or renewal of their Proton – find out more about how to participate in the competition here. The result of these makeovers will be presented on September 16 in conjunction with Malaysia Day.

Elsewhere, among the initiatives happening during this period is a community tour, which began at the end of July and ends on August 12, with a group of 50 to 90 volunteers from Proton visiting five welfare homes, shelters and orphanages in five states (Pahang, Penang, Kelantan, Johor and Negri Sembilan) to carry out a variety of charitable tasks, such as cleaning and greening the environment and carrying out minor repairs as well as provide motivational talks and career workshops at the venues.

“The programme is a way for Proton to contribute back to society, especially to the less fortunate. It is Proton’s hope to share the joy and fun with them during the festive season,” said Proton MD Datuk Seri Syed Zainal Abidin.

The culmination of the 1Perayaan Proton programme is with the Proton Merdeka Day and Malaysia Day parade on September 16, in Merdeka Square, KL, where the company will be showcasing its series of concept cars (Tuah, Jebat, Lekir, Lekiu & Kasturi), the Saga EV and Exora REEV (Electric Vehicle Range Extender), among others.

    What is hijrah?

      The Islamic calendar.

‘islamic calendar’ is not the exact word to word translation. Hijrah is a verb which means ’emigrate’ . It marks the ‘migration’ by the Prophet Muhammad & His Companions from Mecca to Medina roughly around 622AD. Similarly as the years in the Roman calendar originates from the year when Jesus was born. Muslims mark our calendar from the year the ‘Hijrah’ was performed. I hope this explanation is sufficient.

Haha, true. Sorry that my reply is a bit too simplistic.

I think roman calendar starts from the year Jesus was crucified, AD stands for “after death”

Just as it has been 2011 yrs since the Jesus incident, it has been 1432 years since hijrah happened according to Islamic calendar :)

nope.. A.D stands for Anno Domini, which is Latin for “year of our Lord,” and it means the number of years since the time of Jesus Christ. it marks the birth of Jesus.

Maker of Shitty cars spending money on PR campaign to tell the public that they now smell nice and rosy.
The fact remains during the festive season a lot of malaysian dies on the road driving their shitty cars. If they were made of high quality in the first place the public need not worry about servicing their shitty cars just to balik kampong, but to Proton they know the journey of between 300 to 400km puts alot of stress to their shitty cars.
Typical of Proton to help the vendors to cash in and sell more shitty spare parts and exonerate themselves should the public not spend more money to upkeep the shitty proton cars.
The programme should be called”Commitment to be better Convincing” as the public still thinks Proton is a shitty car.
I am sure to the public the sweetest and the most special experience would be if they could get some good resale value when they sell off their shitty Proton cars.
Proton, the only car that needs to be service when we balik kampong, when we sent our kids to school, when we go to supermarket, when we go to bank, when we go to shopping mall, when we go to work, when we go to pasar malam. ;-)

One of the reason for 10 years Nissan Sentra still selling on the road… what is worst than a Sentra?

Toyota Vios/Avanza are cheap cars in Indonesia, why not in M’sia?

    Why/what are we doing here?

Dont believe me ma… DSZ should check with Tun Mahathir. Tun gave APs to the companies like Naza to import secondhand japanese cars and the public are willing to pay higher price than buy brand new shitty Proton cars. Everybody knows that a secondhand WISH is any time better than a brand new shitty EXORA.

If Proton lovers think otherwise, they should tell the government to lower the price of the 2ndhand japanese cars or Proton MUST increase price and be on par with the secondhand imports. Must save Face ma!! ;-)

Korek :- proton has been moving forward since 2000 when 1st waja came out. That time they also said proton is moving forward , good direction, need to develop more models… so what now ? Still want to moving forward.. Today is 2011 !!! M’sian still stucked with AP, the reason the gomen still using AP is mind blatantly stupid, corrupt and full of rent seeking vultures.
Look at Gen-2, all the owners have fork out so much money to maintain it, repair stupid throttle body, powerwindow problem, meters malfunction and rattling dashboard. Then savvy model, omg did you buy one of it ? there goes the list of crappy cars !

well, at least you guys have your own Malaysia Brand car… instead Thai and Indonesia, which become the production base of Japs.

Proton does create a good car with good handling, it just that their human resources are below par compare to other car maker in malaysia to uphold the good design and good product that proton has.

Likewise I drove shitty Exora but i am more confident to take corners in cameron highlands trunked road compare to my wive vios. Also speeding to penang only take 3 hours in my shitty exora, which can’t be achieved with vios stability.

But, when I brought my car for the service in Proton COE so called, I got shitty promises in terms of express service they promises end up only 3 hours later instead of 1 hour.

Compare to the Toyota Service Center which superb in terms of service, waiting lounge and even gave free nasi lemak, no doubt I have to stay long too since the population also not small in Malaysia but @least they gave a realistic promises and keep on updating us about the progress.

Is the fact, life sucks but have to keep on going.
