Peugeot 208 Type R5 begins test programme trials

pug 208 tr5 01

The Peugeot 208 Type R5 – which made its debut in Paris – has undergone its first field test programme. The replacement of the 207 Super 2000 was put through its paces on a gravel stage in the southeast of France, where it completed a four-day programme in the hands of Bryan Bouffier/Xavier Panseri.

The next phase of development will involve putting as many kilometres on the car’s clock as possible in order to validate its reliability. Between now and the car’s release for sale, its schedule includes more than 10,000 km of testing on gravel and asphalt, in testing and on events.

At a later stage, Peugeot is set to focus on the suspension and the 280 hp and 400 Nm 1.6 litre EP6 CDT four-cylinder turbo, which are the two chief factors of the global performance package. The development work in both these areas will be carried out directly by Peugeot Sport.

they really should stop making happy looking cars as the market is really going for angry looking cars. even the replacement vios and corolla are going to look a lot more aggressive.

If put ‘eye’ on the windscreen it’ll looks like a car character in the movies “Cars”.

I too heard that the road-going 208 is coming to Malaysia next year. There are one or two spy photos of the actual unit in Malaysia flying around. If not mistaken, this is not reported in PT blog yet.

Hopefully, Nasim will bring 208 with the right specs this time. Still feel they could have done better when they brought the 206 (Bestari) way back then.

Plus, do bring the 208 GTi too!
