Chevrolet Sail sedan to be launched in India

sail side

Chevrolet India has teased the impending arrival of its new Sail sedan into the Indian market, with a side profile shot of the vehicle on its website. The newcomer will join the Sail UV-A hatchback – launched in the country last November – in the model lineup.

Like the hatchback, the sedan will be available in two engine variant forms – there’s a 1.3 litre SDE Smartech commonrail four-cylinder diesel offering 78 PS at 4,000 rpm and 205 Nm at 1,750 rpm, paired to a five-speed F 17 manual gearbox, as well as a 1.2 litre Smartech petrol unit with 86 PS at 6,000 rpm and 113 Nm at 5,000 rpm.

The Sail’s interior will feature a Corvette-inspired dual-cockpit and a ‘Horizon View’ dashboard, as well as the promise of excellent leg room. Like the hatch, the sedan will get a Fun-Wide entertainment system, with Bluetooth functionality that supports five phone pairings and audio streaming.

The company says the Sail’s suspension, featuring gas-filled front and rear shock absorbers, has been finely tuned for Indian road conditions. Safety kit is made up of ABS and electronic brake force distribution (EBD), airbags (which probably means two) and pre-tensioner seatbelts.

India always get the low-powered cars. hahaha… probably due to the traffic congestion, they don’t need a high powered ones.

is it me or the car companies seem to like to produce some strange looking sedans for indian market all the time? i think it’s more and more becoming a norm this day to the extent that i could have guessed which country those sedans are gonna be marketed in, before even looking at the article or title….

  • i noticed that the Indians seem to have better compact vehicles compared to Malaysia. So many VW Polos on the road amongst other jap and Korean makes that put cars of the same class that is available here to shame. over here, not every middle income earner can even afford a Polo. Most likely have to settle for a Myvi. With Indian companies going in aggressively with acquiring auto makers, there can only be better cars available there over time, unlike here. we have lost to even Thailand. They seem to be getting the better stuff.
