Mercedes-Benz has teased this green “G500 4×4² show car” on its Facebook fan page ahead of its unveiling at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. The automaker is calling it a show car, but there must be some plan to put it into production in the future as our spy photographers have been sending us pix of the vehicle on test, with the prototypes wearing green paint as well, albeit in a darker shade.

It basically looks like a four-wheeled version of the massive Mercedes G63 AMG 6X6 double cab pickup that you can actually buy. We hear there’s one in Singapore now. Like the 6X6, it will use portal axles to allow Unimog-like ground clearance without the axle and driveshafts getting into the way.

We expected this to be an AMG car, but apparently it isn’t. Instead of being a G63 like the 6X6, the 4X4 makes do with being a G500. This probably means it has a normally-aspirated 5.5 litre V8 producing 388 PS and 530 Nm of torque under its hood.
