2015 Mitsubishi Mirage – minor update arrives, RM66k

2015 mirage 01

Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia has quietly introduced the updated 2015 Mitsubishi Mirage in the country. The sixth-gen was given a minor update late last year – the car first surfaced in Australia in October, and now, it’s our turn to get the revision.

Not many changes, exterior-wise – the Mirage gets a new front bumper as seen on the limited-edition Mirage Sports back in 2013, and features a short antenna mounted towards the rear of the roofline (the previous one was placed at the front). Also, the side mirrors now feature signal repeaters. Inside, there’s a new 2-DIN Kenwood head-unit to be found. Otherwise, the kit remains as before.

Aside from these small revisions, the update should also carry the technical improvements mentioned on the Australian-market model. It was stated that additional sound insulation and a new mounting system for the engine have been incorporated to increase the car’s overall refinement and performance.

Changes to the engine mounting system consist of a new hydraulic insulator and high rigidity cast aluminium bracket to reduce noise and vibration. There’s also a new lightweight and rigid cast steel bracket for the transmission.

As for improving on NVH levels, extra sound insulation material has been added to the front and rear floor areas, the A-pillar, front cowl as well as the dashboard panel of the 2015 MY car. No changes to the powertrain, with the 3A92 1.2 litre DOHC three-pot unit soldiering on and continuing with its 78 PS at 6,000 rpm and 100 Nm at 4,000 rpm output.

The model line-up has however been revised – the updated Mirage is only available in a single GS variant form, meaning that the previous entry-level GL trim has been discontinued. The 2015 Mitsubishi Mirage GS – which is available in Red Metallic, Eisen Gray Mica and White Pearl – is priced at RM65,662 (on-the-road with insurance and GST inclusive).

The chance of the Iriz side and curtain airbags working is at least higher than the chance of the Mirage side and curtain airbags working… which is 0%.

The Iriz Premium is simply the better choice, unless you can’t afford the fuel. But in that case, buy base spec Iriz, still safer than the Mirage, and you save 20+k. Enough for quite a lot of fuel.

the GL variant had long been discontinued for Malaysian market, so no surprise the facelifted version is GS-only. just sad that the hero colour of previous model, the neon yellow colour, is no more.

All cars reduced 1% after GST.

After minor upgrade or facelift increase price to 10% or more + GST.

I dont understand why ppl buy this ting considering the other options that are abt 1million times better…i hate this car..one of the worst cars i hv used…although for few hrs only..its jus terrible..loud..noisy..no power…and flimsy….u have to sacrifice the whole car just to get few more km mileage…
Plz avoid…get a fully loaded iriz..cheaper..n get more respect for it!

I have driven this car – very poor ride and handling. I hope Mitsubishi have done something to improve this.

There isn’t much market for this type of car in Malaysia. P1 and P2 offer much more bang for your buck down this end. They should whack a massive turbo on it and it would fly off the forecourts like the Fiesta and the Polo.
