SPIED: Jaguar F-Type SVR out testing – to top 600 hp?

Jaguar-F-Type-R-S-001

If you still feel that the Jaguar F-Type is rather sedate, it’s probably a good thing that we now have proof of the ultimate F-Type in the works. Behold the Jaguar F-Type SVR, rumoured to have the R’s 5.0 litre supercharged V8 that is tuned to a little over 600 hp. With huge spoilers on the front and rear, together with with carbon-ceramic brakes as well as carbon-fibre rear view mirrors, the SVR should be available in coupe and cabriolet variants.

This extreme F-Type is being developed by Jaguar Land Rover’s SVO skunkworks division that was also responsible for cars like the unforgettable F-Type Project 7. A truly brilliant car in the works, and the F-Type’s new all-wheel-drive system for the 2016 model year could make this car an all-conquering one.

The Porsche 911 Turbo and the Mercedes-AMG GT are right in its sights, and since both cars, even in their most potent forms only come with 560 and 503 hp respectively, it’s going to be interesting to see just how this F-Type stamps its authority all over them. This epic car is expected to feature in this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show in September.

why i have a feeling if things go down like this, BMW (or the famous M Division) is going to eat their words again in the future by actually producing something more than 600

Some BMWs are in front wheel drive format now, and 5-series is only available in 4-cylinder engines in Malaysia. Both were openly despised by BMW before, especially the front wheel drive format, mind you.

Josh, it’s not always about horsepower but how you manage to put all that power down onto the tarmac. Better transmissions with quicker shifts and trick traction MIGHT be where they see themselves heading to.

The V8S with 500+ bhp, is a feisty thing as it is. A 600bhp version must be for a lunatic!
