BMW Group Malaysia will be opening a new Parts Distribution Centre (PDC) located at the Airport Logistics Park in the Free Industrial Zone of Johor’s Senai International Airport. The company held a groundbreaking ceremony together with Pan Asia Logistics (PAL) yesterday.
Sitting on a 25-acre piece of land, the new PDC will be replacing the current centre located in the Free Trade Zone of the Tanjung Pelepas port in Johor. When ready, it will support over 22 countries in the region, with PAL as the new logistics and supply chain solution provider. The centre will have up to 761,000 sq.ft. of space and is planned in two phases under a long-term lease agreement.
“Malaysia continues to be a strategic hub and a key growth market for the BMW Group in the South East Asia region. This is clearly demonstrated with the expansion of our headquarters, Regional Training Centre and Group Date Centre in Cyberjaya, our local assembly facilities in Kulim, Kedah as well as our established network of dealerships across the country,” said Alan Harris, MD and CEO of BMW Group Malaysia.
Harris added that the premium automaker has also consistently strengthened its investments in the country, providing skilled and professional work opportunities for Malaysians as well as offering significant transfer of advanced technologies and processes to the local automotive industry.
