RapidKL concessionaire Prasarana has clarified remarks made by minister in the prime minister’s department Datuk Nancy Shukri regarding refunds being made for delays in its LRT and Monorail service. Contrary to what was understood from her comments, such compensation would not be given to everyone affected by the delays – only those who do not wish to continue their journey as a result.

“If riders continued their journey on the LRT, their right for a refund would automatically be voided. Prasarana hopes this statement would clarify any form of confusion that may have arisen,” the company said in a press release, adding that the refund would only be in the form of a free coupon for a one-way trip, valid for a period of five days from the date of issue.

Yesterday, Nancy responded to a written question from Alor Gajah MP Datuk Koh Nai Kwong, saying that LRT and Monorail riders would be entitled for a refund if the train was more than 15 minutes late. “The same policy will apply to the MRT, which is expected to be operational by the end of 2016,” she added.
