No compensation for LRT, Monorail delays if journey is continued, refunds in form of one-way trip coupon

LRT Kelana Jaya Line

RapidKL concessionaire Prasarana has clarified remarks made by minister in the prime minister’s department Datuk Nancy Shukri regarding refunds being made for delays in its LRT and Monorail service. Contrary to what was understood from her comments, such compensation would not be given to everyone affected by the delays – only those who do not wish to continue their journey as a result.

“If riders continued their journey on the LRT, their right for a refund would automatically be voided. Prasarana hopes this statement would clarify any form of confusion that may have arisen,” the company said in a press release, adding that the refund would only be in the form of a free coupon for a one-way trip, valid for a period of five days from the date of issue.

Yesterday, Nancy responded to a written question from Alor Gajah MP Datuk Koh Nai Kwong, saying that LRT and Monorail riders would be entitled for a refund if the train was more than 15 minutes late. “The same policy will apply to the MRT, which is expected to be operational by the end of 2016,” she added.

refund by giving free coupon valid for 5 days is a non-sincere way.

Prasarana dare not take the challenge of full cash refund because they know they are not able to live up to that expectation of giving world class service like rails in Japan.

If u don’t even continue journey, nothing is incurred, other than 90sen charge if come in and out from same station.

    Always a catch.

  • 1st proposal seems like they are committed to raise their standard of service the public. Then once put out on public, terus kecut telur.
Is this where our public service are heading ?

A better country in 2020, oh ~ not anymore, extended to 2050. Nahhh don’t even think of it. Might be better on technological usage, but not the service.

    What to do ?

If lrt/monorail is late by 15 min, you must go out and claim the refund.

Then go back in, and wait, if late again, go out and claim another refund.

    —–

Now if it’s touch n go ? I believe they have a device to reverse back the transaction (ktm do use this a lot).

Same procedure, late by 15 min, go out, claim refund, and go back in.

    ——

If everybody keep doing this, then they will put up another rule, for example after claim refund cannot go in back within 30 min ….

    ——

At that time, what to do ?

Just bring in petrol, pour all over station, and start a fire.
