Naza Kia has finally previewed the Kia Grand Carnival at the Mines International Exhibition and Convention Centre (MIECC) today – the company has opened the order books for the massive eight-seater MPV ahead of its launch early next year.
The car shown here is the 2.2 CRDi diesel, and for those of you lamenting the fact that the diesel Sorento 2.2 LS is a low-spec model, you can rest easy knowing that the car shown here is of a high level of specification. It’s a behemoth as well – measuring 5,115 mm long, 1,985 mm wide and 1,740 mm tall, it’s a whole 40 mm longer than the already-commodious previous model; its wheelbase is 3,060 mm long.
Outside, the handsome Grand Carnival is seen here with xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights, 19-inch chrome wheels (similar to the ones on the petrol Sorento 2.4 HS) and LED combination tail lights. The car is also fitted with keyless entry, power-sliding doors on both sides and a powered tailgate.
Step inside and you’ll find beige and black leather upholstery with red stitching and white piping – a choice that strikes us as a little odd. The second-row seats pivot upwards to a near-vertical position to allow access to the third row, which itself can be stowed into the floor to increase cargo room.
The increase in dimensions is claimed to have enabled the Carnival to offer more front shoulder room, greater leg room in the first, second and third rows and a slightly higher hip-point than the previous model. Meanwhile, the boot measures a whopping 960 litres even with all seats up, expanding to 4,022 litres with the third row folded and the second-row seats pushed to a standing position.
Kit includes push-button start, cruise control, automatic headlight and wiper activation, triple-zone automatic climate control with cluster ioniser, powered lumbar support (although the seats themselves still feature manual adjustment), Bluetooth connectivity, front and rear parking sensors and a reverse camera.
Safety-wise, the Grand Carnival comes with six airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, stability control, hill-start assist and ISOFIX child seat mounts on both second and third rows. Under the bonnet, the 2.2 litre R CRDi four-cylinder turbodiesel from the Sorento sends 193 PS and 440 Nm to the front wheels via a six-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
Looking to sell your car? Sell it with Carro.
Ayoo.. why the grill is this one not the other one??
The media player also so small display..?? NAZA sucks, ruining KIA.
I just want the girls minus the car if like this.
The last Carnival was a big failure. See any forum and you will see hundreds of owners in Malaysia condemning the car and the lousy service centre. Every single owner said their carnival was gass guzzler and that the parts were super expensive. Don’t forget RV also. Few years old only and the carnival becomes less than RM10k.
Stop bulls**ting about the RV la. Now Kia comes with guaranteed future value (KV5).
Only for the two new latest model dude. Don’t bull****ting like it applies to all Kia model
He’s referring to the Carnival. All new model will bundle with KV5. Nowadays people don’t know how to read.
Last carnival/naza ria are equipped wt a 2.5 liter V6 petrol…sure ler gaz guzzler, its a petrol & gutless very low torque and that V6 are known for its reliability problem. This is using the well proven 2.2 turbo diesel which had been around for years in msia on the the old hyundai santa fe & the latest santa fee…totally reliable engine wt powerful 200hp & 440nm…very good fuel consumption too! Go research first be4 making stupid comments
Sweet gals….We want Diamond grille.
Terrible car. Korean diesel car? Forget about it..
Stopid…korean are known for its superb diesels, thats why they are doing well in europe
Pls make sure that the engine can work with B10 diesel as not many petrol stations offer Euro5 diesel at the moment…
basically its a sorento extra L version?
Whos the model on the right? For research purposes
MODELS ONLY HAVE ONE MISSION: to show cleavage.
“The sight of a woman’s cleavage REDUCES a man’s ability to think CLEARLY BY 50%…..PER BOOB ”
sO,THE GIRL HAS 2 BOOBS…..u CANT THINK STRAIGHT……..100%.
So how ?
WALK OUT OF THE BLADDY SHOWROOM,WHILE YOUR WIFE IS AROUND and go for a nice meal as a family MINUS buying any shit.
Dont ever buy a KIa distributed by NAZA.The service sucks, like elephant shit.
Hoi Hyundai Starex !! Are you still sleeping?? You see now Carnival has six airbags….
This model is quite popular in the US with good review. The 2.2 diesel engine is also one of the more economical ones among the other minivans sold there
Also no adaptive cruise control and no 360 degree view. Too bad these things should be standard features. Any option to upgrade ?
This comment section is 90% never happy
They should manufacture their own dream car
why people do not want to buy kia, is it not reliable, resale value is not an issue to me
I think because of NAZA is the main company bringing KIA in.
not reliable I think situation changed. most likely because of the distributor which is after sales service is quite bad.
Malaysian style showroom attitude. Showing the car with plastic wraps still covering parts of the interior. Lucky this time the gear knob is not missing.
Price not yet know le…
kia carnival has no good resale value. just look the at the previous generation. used car dealer all low ball or don’t want to take.
Why people always talk about resale value? Did you really need to sell your old car just to buy a new car?
ayoyoyo brother…
of coz we never know our brand new car..
If mishap happend like your brand new super fugly BR-V have a intermittent prob, like when you touch the steering wheel, then the car will dance metalrock, the Honda mechanic touch it, it will dance ballet. So, no problem for them..n then all your 4 kiddo has growth to be 200m height..you want to change to Alphard, then you need to sell the BR-V car. Of course, the resale value is important except for you, you are rich guy, you bought the car cashly, you dump the car into longkang when you dont like it anymore.
This one buy keep for life as RV, parts, fuel all problem…
Just launch already u know got problem, fortune teller is your job is it?
Superb! 2.2 diesel!
in my wish list
Looking at MPV market and price in Australia (with similar specifications as Msia), this MPV will be one of the best buy of 2017 in Malaysia if it is selling around RM150k:
Honda Odyssey price: AUD37k (Selling at RM248k in Msia)
Kia Carnival price: AUD52k to AUD62k (RM140k in MSia?)
Despite of its higher price in Australia Kia Carnival total selling volume in 2016 is 2x more than Honda Odyssey and 4x more than Toyote Previa.
Compared to Toyota and Honda, this car also scored better in almost all review rating in Australia.
Only in Malaysia ppl are so biased towards Jap cars that ppl would rather pay RM248k for a Honda Odyssey than paying RM150k for a Kia Carnival.
