MINI Countryman JCW Design Edition launched in Malaysia for RM243k – aero kit, LED door projectors

To welcome the Year of the Rooster, MINI Malaysia has launched the new Countryman JCW Design Edition, which is being priced at RM242,888 (on-the-road without insurance), exactly the same as the Countryman Cooper S

Under the hood, the JCW Design Edition is powered by the Countryman Cooper S’ 1.6 litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 190 hp and 240 Nm of torque (260 Nm with its overboost function). As a result, it’ll make the 100 km/h sprint from a standstill in just 7.8 seconds and will hit a top speed of 212 km/h.

The JCW Design Edition is made special as it comes with the John Cooper Works (JCW) Aerodynamic Kit that tags on a front splitter, side skirts, side scuttles, rear diffuser and new door sills. Other exterior additions include John Cooper Works Sport Stripes that run from the front to the back, and interchangeable MINI LED door projectors.

The latter can be configured to project various designs onto the floor, like the MINI logo, Union Jack flag or John Cooper Works design, for a more “personalised and unique driving experience.” MINI Malaysia is offering four exterior paint colours to choose from – Light White, Blazing Red, Starlight Blue and Jungle Green – all of which come with black roof and mirror caps, plus 18-inch wheels.

Inside, the JCW Design Edition is unchanged from the regular Cooper S, retaining its MINI Visual Boost package with a 6.5-inch LCD screen, leather upholstery, piano black trim, automatic air-conditioning, ‘Sport’ button and paddle shifters.

Something is seriously wrong in Malaysia when a mere Mini can cost RM243k.

Something must be really really wrong.

Soon, Vespa also will hike their prices to RM30k.

Syukurlah when ringgit is so weak and has no value anymore

Don’t we all loved the Minis after seeing the movie Italian Job. Those Minis are so solid that it can go down walkways, stairways, Highways & those No ways included.

The movie in 2003 grossed over $176 million with main actor & actress Mark Wahlberg, Charlize Theron & Jason Statham as professional safecracker assembled a team to steal 35 million dollars worth of gold bullion & used the Minis(soup-up) to cart the Gold bars.

IMO, this movie have made a tremendous impact on MINI & many more fell in loved with the MINI & the Movie.

Here it is, the current gen’s swan song before the 2nd gen arrives. Wonder who will buy this since they couldn’t even finish selling the Countryman Parklane 88 model edition (saw one at AB Glenmarie yesterday during their open house)
