A record drop in the number of road deaths was cause enough for Ops Selamat 11, conducted in conjunction with the Hari Raya holidays, to be deemed a success, according to Bernama.
Inspector-general of police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said that during the 15-day operation, the number of fatal accidents have dropped from 273 cases last year to 239, a decrease of 12%. “The number of deaths also dropped by 42 cases or 14%, with 257 deaths recorded this year, compared to 299 last year,” he said.
Analysis showed that “self-destructive factors” were the main cause of fatal accidents – contributing to 65 cases – in addition to other factors such as negligence and carelessness. Khalid said that 6,309 operations were carried our and 277,832 summonses issued during Ops Selamat 11.
“The success achieved by ‘Op Selamat’ this time is the result of a comprehensive enforcement approach carried out simultaneously together with PDRM’s strategic partners through the Emergency Response Team,” he added.

Everyday got lain lain story. Oh wai! Oh wai! Oh wai!
dont know which story is true. One day they say went up, another day they say gone down.
Flip flop betul. Can the IGP co-ordinate with other PDRM officers who has made press statements before he makes announcements?
All contradicts.
Nation dun just mean KL lah. KL higher thanks to certain segments pipu that not balik kampung, but overall NATION result down thanks those segments pipu that balik kampung, they were careful and attentive to avoid unnecessary eksiden even thou still puasa. Kudos to them!

If low, then u say polis tidor. So how leh?
If police did something you bash
And if police didn’t do something you bash
Basher mentality goes even lowest than AIDS virus
Very good. It shows the power of ‘enforcement’. Hope the police and all the statutory bodies; learn from this because that is what is lacking. They can learn from Europe in the 60’s – it was just like Malaysia when they decided to pile on the enforcement with police cars at every corner. It worked but only if the enforcement officers apply the rule of law without favor or in other words without corruption. So all those who believe in paying off enforcement officers had better stop complaining about ineffective enforcement agencies next time. As they say, the corruption stops when the payment stops and when the acceptor stops requesting for payment.
Bravo & Kudos to PDRM for constantly highlighting the importance of safe driving & the Rakyat have play a part in valuing their lives more now.
Lets hope there will be less Fatal accidents in the coming months/years for the sake of our beloved nation call Malaysia. Better be safe than be sorry & drive carefully, ALWAYS.
