New Suzuki Swift Sport – first official photo released

Suzuki has released the first official photo for the all-new Swift Sport, which is set to make its debut at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show in September.

In terms of visuals, the car distinguishes itself from the standard Swift thanks to a new front bumper that no longer sees the fog lamps being linked together. The face also features a new intake and wider grille, the latter sporting a wave-like mesh rather than a honeycomb design.

Beyond this frontal view, Suzuki did not reveal any further information about the performance-focused Swift, although previous reports have hinted at a car that will tip the scales at around 870 kg, which is 200 kg less than the previous-gen Swift Sport.

Where the regular Swift is available with either a K10C 1.0 litre Boosterjet turbocharged three-cylinder or K12C 1.2 litre twin-injector Dualjet NA four-cylinder, the Swift Sport could get a more powerful 1.4 litre BoosterJet four-pot from the Vitara S.

We’ll have to wait until the Frankfurt Motor Show to find out just what the new Swift Sport’s specifications will look like. For now, what do you think of Suzuki’s latest hot hatch?

We can only dream of this car. Cause Suzuki already lari from Malaysia. They are so angry. their lover, Proton, dumped them overnight for new China doll bride Geely.

Suzuki was very sincere with their love affair with Proton. They wanted to give Proton rights to rebadge nearly all the Suzuki cars.

But Proton wanted quick gain and quick profits. They did not even give the Ertiga a chance and quickly dumped Suzuki overnight for Geely.

Hello Proton, in business, you must have patience. Slowly grow your products. You cannot have quick overnight gains.

So now, Suzuki is boiling mad cause Proton’s new love is Geely. If Proton was patient and knew how to do business, Suzuki would even allow us to rebadge this swift.

No, DRB and proton did want Suzuki as its partner. But Suzuki demand proton to remove excess staff by 40%. It said that’s too many for proton whis was making average of 100k cars per years over the last 5 yrs. Suzuki had its point. Proton cannot accept the proposal.

Proton wants money and technology, who care about sales and product quality. There is one term for this we call ‘leech’. Goyang kaki makan gaji buta.

Don’t expect this car to have ride quality like the European hatches. But the handling should be stellar though. Only question is, will Suzuki this time have more guts to feature a more significant horsepower hike for this new Suzuki Swift Sport? They should, because the European competition are pulling away much further in the horsepower department. At least 180bhp~190bhp should be extracted from the 1.4L turbo engine (if indeed, the new Swift Sport will be using it). That is if Suzuki is serious about challenging the next generation Polo GTi, Fiesta RS etc.

That means better acceleration and braking. Better handling instead of nose heavy understeers in corners.

Better fuel consumption and exhaust emission. Do you know 7 yrs ago Jaguar had launched the all new XJ and managed to bring down the car weight from 2 tonnes to just about 1,500kg by use of aluminium? And it can use a 2.0 turbocharged engine to sprint in under 8 seconds.

Now merc s class and BMW 7 series are using same formula.

        870kg and a lightweight 1.4L turbo.

This is probably as close to the original Swift’s fun to drive character that Suzuki has managed to make.

This weighs 100kg less than the Lagi Best 1.5 but as much torque as the 1.5L Honda Civic Turbo. Imagine it would be a point and scoot pocket rocket.

  • i hope after the re-badged Ertiga phase, Suzuki return to Bolehland. Generally, Suzuki cars are so balanced and nice to drive. Other than the Swift, the Kizashi could have made it as the real-deal Sports Sedan except that it couldn’t compete on cabin space vs Accord or Camry.
