Remember that light-hearted scene in Fate of the Furious with Luke Hobbs (Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson) and Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham)? Well, if you enjoyed the banter between both characters, good news ahead.
Universal Pictures has announced a new Fast & Furious spinoff starring Statham and Johnson, which is slated for release on July 26, 2019. The film studio had previously stated the release of the ninth instalment in the F&F franchise would be pushed back a year from April 19, 2019 to April 10, 2020.
So far, details about the spinoff movie have yet to be revealed, although it has been reported that Chris Morgan will assume script writing duties. Speaking to Hollywood Reporter, Universal Pictures chairman Donna Langley said, “Fast & Furious is one of Universal’s most beloved properties, and we handle every decision we make surrounding this franchise with great care.”
“The global brand of Fast & Furious is strong and full of iconic characters, and we look forward to continuing to build on the film that started it all, as well as expanding into different narratives beginning with our first spinoff,” he added.
With The Fate of the Furious and Furious 7 performing well in the box office, the franchise shows no sign of slowing down anytime soon. Following the Hobbs-Shaw spinoff movie and Fast 9, Fast 10 is expected to arrive in 2021.

Fast & Furious is becoming more cliche and boring.
initially when they started out with those drifts and drag racing, it’s not too bad. now it’s showing bank robberies and those romance.
better rename to Robbery & Love.
it would be good too if F&F also features the new Honda Civic FC type R. these shots will be good for Honda sales.
