New Infiniti QX80 set to debut at Dubai Motor Show

Infiniti will reveal the next-generation QX80 at the 2017 Dubai International Motor Show, which is set to open on November 14. As you’d expect, there are a few teasers to go along with the announcement, giving us our first look at the big SUV.

Unsurprisingly, the QX80 appears to be heavily influenced by the QX80 Monograph Concept from this year’s New York International Auto Show. Cues from the concept like the huge front grille and slimmer headlights are retained, albeit with a few revisions, the latter following the graphics found in the recent QX50 Concept.

The bold lower apron on the concept has also been toned down in production form, with the teaser revealing a pair of fog lamps and a wide lower intake as well. We also get to see the SUV’s large 22-inch alloy wheels and quilted leather on the door cards.

The new design for the QX80 should increase its appeal over its predecessor, which had a flowerhorn fish-look to it. Infiniti says the SUV will feature “powerful proportions, commanding exterior design, a luxurious cabin and a hand-crafted interior.”

“Infiniti’s design DNA has been scaled up for our largest SUV. The QX80 brings a new commanding presence with powerful muscularity and enhanced horizontal movement. Our designers raised the visual height of our iconic double arch grille and signature headlamps striking an unmistakable road presence,” said Alfonso Albaisa, senior vice president of global design at Infiniti.

Yup, in all fairness, there were more Nissan Patrol V8 SE and Hi spec version, compared to this qx80, even though both cars are essentially the same in dimensions and spec, but the Patrol looks sooo much better than the QX80. Have been driven on a Nissan Patrol V8 and my only conclusion, if you want a SUV, go Full size or go home…
