In the Malaysian middleweight motorcycle segment, there is a multitude of choices for the rider, and a rumour has emerged that a new model will be entering the scene, the 2018 CFMoto MT650 adventure-styled sports-tourer. Originating in China, the MT650 is made by Zhejiang CFMoto Power, located in the Yuhang Economic Development Zone in Hangzhou.
Carrying a 649 cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin, CFMoto claims the MT650 puts out 71 hp at 8,750 rpm and 62 Nm of torque at 7,000 rpm, fed by EFI. Power gets to the ground via a six-speed gearbox and chain final drive, and the whole package comes in at 213 kg, wet.
Suspension uses upside-down forks with 140 mm of travel, and a monoshock with a 45 mm stroke is located asymmetrically at the back, with twin disc hydraulic brakes. Rolling on 17-inch wheels, the MT650 carries fuel in a 18-litre tank – range is claimed to be 400 km – and seat height can be set at 840 or 820 mm, which is user selectable.
From the CFMoto website, there are two colour options for the MT650 – Royal Blue and Pearl White. Inside the cockpit a monochrome LCD instrument panel is installed, split into separate readouts for engine and road speed in one panel, and other information on another.
It is not known if the MT650 will come to Malaysia with fitted luggage, although it is shown on the website, and a USB charging port is standard fitment. From what paultan.org has managed to find out, the 2018 CFMoto MT650 will come to Malaysia in April, and will be priced below RM30,000.
In the local market, direct competition for the CFMoto MT650 will be the Kawasaki Versys 650, priced at RM38,869, including GST. Another option in this weight class would be the Honda CB500X at RM31,893, with ABS bringing the price up to RM35,391.

better go with honda to be safe.. I own a benelli bike.. despite mforce took over the dealership.. I was assumed that parts availability shouldn’t be an issue since they’ve handle sym brand for quite some time.. ordered rear sprocket from one of the dealer (tmn u, Skudai) & they promised to get back to me once it’s available.. after a week they call me back to confirm whether I really want that parts.. duh.. now after 2 months the parts still nowhere to be seen.. they said already checked with mforce HQ at Penang.. can u imagine whole Malaysia no stock, after 2 months of order? ended up have to ask a workshop to drill exact hole for the sprocket (custom made).. imagine what will happens if major issue, maybe they take half a year to get if fixed.. sigh..
Lesson learned. For benelli, only safe for penangites. Outside penang, riders beware. How about sym kapcai?? 125 rider, etc??
Apologize I might be few in the rank of comments later but worth mentioning is Benelli TRK502 at 30k (since CB500x is included).
Very deceiving… Sounds like Yamaha MT series
lol. if you see their ads, music, style also copy yamaha MT-series . but nvm let see the real product. in past CFMoto isnt a favor brand at all and quite hard to see on the road.
At RM30k(not cheap by any std), it is better to let some ppl try it out 1st as I don’t intend to be a guinea pig. Am sure we will hear more of CFMoto in time to come.

A very interesting bike. A chinese versys 650 clone, engines and all, with Kiska of KTM fame designing the looks of the bike. If it can be sold at around rm27k, it would be a great alternative to the versys 250. If it is nearer to 30k, most people will opt for the honda cb500x.
The 650MT comes with 2 side boxes and safety bar. Price comes below RM28K (not OTR). Color choice is Night Black & Royal Blue.
