Now coming in three new colours, Hong Leong Yamaha Malaysia (HLYM) has released the 2018 Yamaha Ego Solariz scooter, with pricing unchanged from last year at RM5,548, including GST but excluding road tax, insurance and registration. The new colour and design options are Red, Blue, Purple and Magenta, with last year’s Silver being dropped.
The Ego Solariz carries a 125 cc, air-cooled, SOHC, single-cylinder engine, which Yamaha says puts out 9.38 hp at 8,000 rpm, and torque number of 9.6 Nm at 5,500 rpm. Power goes through a CVT gearbox with V-belt final drive, and the rider has a choice of electric or kick-starting.
Weighing in at 94 kg, the Ego Solariz carries fuel in a 4.3-litre tank, and a 10-litre storage compartment can be found under the seat. Riders will like the low seat height of 750 mm, with ground clearance set at 135 mm, making the Ego Solariz easy to handle.
A single hydraulic disc brake is found on the front wheel, which is suspended on telescopic forks. The rear wheel is stopped with a drum brake, and a monoshock keeps the engine/swing-arm assembly upright.
The 2018 Yamaha Ego Solariz is targetted towards the budget commuter or young adult market. Availability of the Ego Solariz at authorised Hong Leong Yamaha dealers is from this week.

Too bad that new scooters nowadays @ MR5.5k is not cheap. It used to be RM2k when I was riding one.

ETCM also the same. Their prices are reasonable compared to DRB Honda and UMW Toyota.
